7S26 'Magic Lever' Arms Issue
Discussion
Hi All,
Apologies in advance if this has been covered elsewhere (although I have trawled the forums and interweb for hours researching my specific issue and all I can find is a youtube video of a disgruntled watch owner). See here for said video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BuC8nlzBQ0A.
I own a Seiko SKX007 with the 7s26(C) Movement.
To save time, here's a breakdown of the Sit-Rep:
- Brand new watch
- Legit - confirmed as not fake
- Unable to return (long story but its out of the question)
- Guarantee for 1 yr - (although this has costs associated)
Issue: the watch works fine, just ticketyboo in terms of time keeping etc however, the watch doesn't charge. If manually wound by opening the back and turning the screw the watch will go for hours and hours without issue. however after a couple of days, nothing.
I have VERY carefully assessed the watch with gentle movements of the various wheels and cogs and upon close inspection of the mech I have spotted the problem. The weight rotates as it should and moves the parts of the mech as it is designed to however the two 'Magic Arms', despite moving correctly, do not grab the wheel to turn the winding mech, thus not rotating relevant parts to build up a PR.
The best way I can describe it as they slip, (it reminds me of those infuriating games at the arcade where you try to grab a cuddly toy with the claw only to find when it is perfectly lined up the claw fingers slide over the toy and you lose 2 quid. See the vid mentioned earlier if you need a visual.
So what do I want to know?
A: how is this remedied?
B: is it a case of replacing the pulling arms (mind blank on the correct name)
C: if the above is YES, how do I do this and is it difficult? (by which I mean a watch maker would have to do it)
D: where can I get spares for a good prices? I have trawled the net and don't fancy buying another movement if I can avoid it)
I think that covers everything, Thanks in advance all.

Hi, welcome to the forum.
I can't advise as to the specifics of your question, but you might want to give board member Joe (Variomatic) a call at his place of work or drop him an email as he's not on the site much anymore.
I'm trying to be a bit careful not to break the forum rules regarding advertising, and apologise to the Mods if I am doing so by giving his email which is joe@angleseywatches.co.uk. drop him an email and tell him where you got his info from ( or you could get his number from a search of the email domain
)
He repaired my SKX007K which had had a big impact and I thought was destined for the sideboard drawer, it's kept perfect time ever since and after a bit of wearing it keeps time for at least 48 hours. I imagine he can supply the spares or do a full repair if you wish.
