Hi all

Looking to buy a Bell & Ross vintage watch and seen a few on Watchfinder. First of all, any experience with them? Also, is it the sort of place where they might be open to offers, or are the prices pretty firm?

Thanks
Julian

According to the last post here, they don't negotiate. I didn't try.

Most people seem to be happy with them otherwise, including me now smile

If they've had in under a month they don't discount. After that they may. Rolex discounts practically non existent but maybe get something on a bell and Ross if they've had it over a month. Tremendous company

Although no discount they did (strangely) offer in writing a higher than retail p/ex (against a GMT) on my OP DJ when described over the phone.

I surmised, without foundation, they would get the watch and then hammer me down on p/ex price once there. I've not taken it further.

I purchased two watches from them and each time I got £150 off each one. Don't know how long they had been there. It doesn't do any harm to ask.

Not true that they don't offer discounts- they do.

Offered me 300 off a watch last month- of course depends on make/model/how long for sale but they do offer discounts.

The one watch I bought from them 2-3 years ago had a good discount on their own list price too- and that was a Rolex.

In their early days returning customers got an automatic 10% discount for subsequent purchases.

I've made offers on Rolex S/S stuff and have had around £100 knocked off.

If it's as described they won't, part ex'd a few watches with them and they have never changed the price/beaten me down.

Surely it depends on how desireable / easy to sell the watch is and how much they paid for it?

They do put some of there watches on EBay so if they can sell it without eBay fees that's a discount they can offer.

An ideal scenario which they don't currently offer would be to have my watch valued of p/ex in house, then sell me another full price, then give me a month or two to decide if I wish to p/ex at the price agreed. That way I'd have time to see if I no longer use or could bear to part with my first watch and they wouldn't have the issue of selling on another, albeit at a profit most times I guess?

My scenario may get them more business? Just an idea...

Ive bought 2 tags (kirium and microtimer), one corum bubble) one oris some chronograph thing, one omega constellation and a few more i cant remember.

Everytime ive bought from them, including the first, i have managed to negotiate a discount one was a £1300 watch which i managed to get for £900 which they hadnt had for sale for too long certainly less than a month.

I tried to knock them down on a Speedy, they wouldn't budge. Sourced the same watch on Ebay for £900 less...

Sheetmaself- Might be a silly question but how did you get £400 off? was it just a case of phoning and offering that amount?

Absolutely no idea to be honest.

Initially i was going to trade in the tag kirium which i bought of them but they had four already in and was going to offer the new watch at £1100 plus £350 for the kirium. I stated i wasnt going to let the watch go for that price but that i understood that they had quite a few in so would be a low offer asked them what they would sell me the watch outright for and they stated without trade in they could do it for £1000.

The price i had in mind genuinely was £900 which to be fair at the time new years eve 2015) was about the right price as had just been to slow on one from watches.co.uk which was at £1000 half year before and i prefered that over the one watchfinder had.

I therefore counted with £900 stated my reason as to why,see above, and the response was seeing it was new years eve and if i could get payment to the, before they closed less than 30 minutes time and wait for them to get back in the new year to send it out it would be a deal.

They definitely look at your account with them and they did state that this was a very rare level of discount i guess i was just lucky in that it was the right time, the right watch, a loyal client and they believed my true story as to why i was sticking to my price.

Sorry for the long response, but hope it clarifies.

I bought two watches from them and they discounted both - this was 3/4 years ago though.

Unfortunately I had to return both very quickly, as the Omega kept stopping and the Rolex had a lot of undisclosed damage. (I was fuming about the latter)

I was not impressed and did not return for a 3rd occasion.
