baume & mercier : opinions ?

I have been offered around 65-70% discount off new B+M watches.

I haven't heard of them before - unsure of the brand provenance or watch quality ?

they are part of swatch group - so are the movements standar ETA 2824 ?

some of the clifton series look appealing ( in photos ) ....

anyone have experience of this brand / or opinions of it ?

My dad had one in the 90s and came with a similarly large discount, it didn't last very long as I remember it, looked good but the build quality wasn't there - they may have changed/moved on though

They were founded in 1830 and are now owned by the Richemont group not Swatch, as for the ETA movements (if they use them) there is nothing wrong with them, robust and reliable.
