I have been offered a mint condition full set example for under 10,000- UK RRP is 16,100.

The watch is 4 years old and from a reputable dealer.

I have wanted to get a ROO for quite some time and the diver is my favorite by far- I love the simpler, more minimalist dial much prefer it to a chrono. The watch itself is stunning- tried it on twice pretty much a grail watch as a daily wearer.

What does everyone think of the price, does that sound like a good deal? It is quite a good % off the RRP so seems like a safe buy as AP increase prices regularly and this is one of their more popular models.

Anyone know if they offer discounts on new watches? I am assuming no on a SS sports watch but maybe I am wrong.

Now I know nothing about AP, but at that age, I'd want to know where it was on the service cycle, and how much and how long a service is likely be.

They are good watches, solid and I prefer to the chronos. You see very few out and about too.

They introduced an update in 2013 with sapphire case back and these tend to be a bit more in demand and hence command higher prices.

Looking at Chrono 24 prices as a benchmark I would offer 9k for this. Used dealers would probably be paying about 8 for one of these unless its the new model.

You used to be able to buy these with 20% discount from new don't know if that is still the case post brexit so the current list price is not really relevant plus think these were originally 12-13k.

I prefer this case back version rather than the sapphire (as it is a dive watch).

The list price was (I think) 15,300 last year, over 16,000 now- I haven't checked what discount is available from new as I don't have an AP AD near me. Anyone know if there are still discounts from new?

The non saphire case backs I see in the UK for sale are between 10,500 and 13,000- newest is 2013 I believe.

I agree around 9000 would be a very good deal.

Has it been serviced? Ideally it should get a service at 4 years old so you should factor a grand for one. I'd negotiate a discount on this basis.

Thank you for that- good advice, I will mention that if I decide to go for it, might help with further discount.

I would have thought service is 5 years+ so didn't really think of that, never owned an AP before just Rolex so I don't really know when each model is recommended a service (if there is a guideline).

Not sure if it's been serviced, no mention of a service though, so I am assuming no.

Had one, sold for £9k including SS bracelet and the Hornback, it was mint. They have a drawback, they are a dress watch movement inside a mega case and they have experienced failures. They are fashion, not tool and they scratch, like feck!

Great watch though, miss mine for all that. Servicing prices are eye-watering at up to £1k before parts.

Get it for £9k, you should always get most of your cash back.

I do intend it to be a daily wearer, only have two watches and neither are SS (Rolex Yachtmaster II Yellow Gold & Date Just II Bi-Metal) so I need something sporty, rugged and wearable with any attire. I don't actually dive so would never use it for that, pool would be all it would have to cope with.

I have read that the bezels do scratch very easily but presumably as this is steel and not one of the rubber ones it can be polished/refurbished without going to AP it's just a case of scratches.

They are not the most economical watches to service for sure but there is just something about them that draws me in...still remember the first time I tried one on (ROO Safari), just levels above Rolex/JLC/Omega etc, it oozes quality and has a incredible wrist presence IMO. Hard to describe it accurately but you just know you have something special on your wrist.

Oh, they are fantastic.

But, they are not polished, they are brushed and that's a finish you don't want just anyone to mess with!
