These look nice, especially the one with the beige markers even though I usually hate faux patina.

Reasonably priced too.

I imagine CW will be furiously trying to mix up a batch of that beige colour as soon as they see this!

Do you have pictures of Tudor Black Bays on the inside of your glasses perhaps? smile

Really not THAT similar at all.

I don't like the baby poo lume though and CW are way ahead of these guys smile

Well it's a 3 handed dive watch, so yeah, pretty well identical.

The cushion shaped case gives it a different look but I think it's fair to say that the Black Bay has been an influence in the lume and bezel styles.

I like the Alpina, looks good value too, particularly when compared to what Bremont released this week. Awful and overpriced.

I'd like to like Bremont, I really would. I've met Giles and have real admiration for what he and Nick have achieved. Despite this I agree that their watches are over-priced. I also struggle with the designs. As nice as some are, there are always details that I just do not like. Cathedral hands and handsets that don't work (to my mind) with the rest of the watch.

Bloody hell Mr Sarcasm, I understand as PH's most prolific watch buyer your views must be more important than everyone else's but this is a discussion board remember. You open a thread presumably to discuss a brand of watch and I offered my thoughts.

It was not intended as a slight on the brand so if you have some vested interest in them I can only apologise.

As I've tried to show in the pictures above however, I think there is more than a passing resemblance. If discussion is allowed, the colours they've used for the bezel can only have been plagiarised from the Black Bay and the fact they've swapped the dots for batons looks like just trying to be different for the sake of it.

Just my opinion.

Looks great on the rubber and leather, no bracelet option though? Doesn't look it. Simular to the BBs? Dial and bezel colours maybe, the rest is completely different.

Black bezel option for me with the regular lume, I'm still not entirely convinced about the faux aged stuff that seems to be on trend recently.

i agree, as a British business what they have achieved is admirable however as a watchmaker the number of designs, ltd editions and tie ups just seem to be more about making a quick buck rather than longevity or building a classic brand with iconic designs. We haven't even mentioned the ETA movements either...

The trouble is that all divers watches look basically the same. It is a case of function over form, and that is understandable, and the times I have been asked if my Monster is a Rolex are legion. I wouldn't pay the price of a Rolex just to tell the time and to me the cheaper brands, which ape the original Rolex style (although Seiko aren't far behind I guess), are to me what it says on the tin; tough and waterproof. That'll do me.

Of course we're all entitled to our view, but I'm not alone in thinking yours is not particularly accurate on this occasion.

Dive watches are generally fairly similar in appearance, but the BB has the classic submariner case shape & the Alpina just doesn't.

Colours aside, the differences are relatively marked as demonstrated by the pictures you posted.

If the Aplina looks like another watch I'd suggest that bezel aside the JeanRichard Terrascope is a more valid comparison.

Regardless, I posted because I thought it was a nice watch. I have no vested interest in the brand at all.

To be honest, I think my post was a bit pissy. I'm blaming an incredibly low hours of sleep due to a poorly baby at the moment so apologies if I came across as a bit touchy. I know the case is totally different but I do stand by the comment about the dial and bezel, the three colours especially.

No problem.

Hope the baby gets better soon.
