I am looking for a Rolex DateJust for my wife. First rolex I have ever bought and need some advice. She really likes the 16220. Looking at a 1999 model with box and papers for £3250. Is that a reasonable price? Also if I buy it does anyone know if I can send it to Rolex to get it verified as genuine? Is that possible and how much does it cost?

Talk to Dom Hackett. He's a member here and runs Hackett Watches. He's also a thoroughly decent chap and will let you know if he can't help rather than talking you into something you don't want.

Any Rolex A.D. Should able to pop the back off a watch and authenticate on the premises.

I'm guessing that is from WF so it will be genuine.

As for price, well go up a bit and you will get a younger 116200 or bit more a 116234. But do a deal, see it as a screen price not a selling price.
