Hi all

I have been lurking for around 6 months (mainly on the car sub-forums) and haven't posted much - just recently discovered that I am into watches and need one..

My budget is around £150 as I'll be an occasional wearer, but due to my clumsiness will no doubt end up scratching/losing etc hence the lower end of the budget.

I saw this watch and absolutely love the design but as I have never heard of this brand wanted to get thoughts of the PH watch community..head says stay away...but...

Thanks in advance.

It's a nice looking watch.

If you are looking at getting into watches it may be worth reading about the difference between quartz and mechanical/automatic watches. The seiko 5 range is always a good start.

It's a nice looking watch for £79, but it's also a no-name Japanese quartz with a six month warranty.

I would certainly try for a Seiko or a Tissot if you find one you like.

Maybe also check out a Mondaine (Swiss Railway) or a Braun watch on amazon - both are real classics with a simple style:

ETA nicer Tissot IMO

It's inoffensive but a bit uninspired, and suffers from "small movement in a large case" syndrome.

If you like simple, Bauhaus influenced watches, have a look at Nomos https://www.jurawatches.co.uk/collections/nomos-gl...

or Junghans Max Bill http://www.junghans.de/en/junghans-collection/watc...

Both are a significant step price-wise, but they are also a significant step in quality.

Have you looked at Autran & Viala for around 115 Euro
http://www.autran-viala.com/en/home/

I bought one of their Plano models with a very comfortable velour strap.

They have black, polished stainless and matt stainless finishes

It uses a Ronda 5 jewel Swiss quartz movement and sapphire glass.
It has a 2 year guarantee and is quite slim at 6.6mm.

Autran & Viala is a brand within the German Ickler group that also has Defakto, Archimede and Limes watches.

Defakto quartz watches are also within your budget
http://www.defakto-uhren.de

Some of the Autran & Viala watches are also on Amazon.co.uk.
There’s also a Facebook page with photos.

June & Ed?

Very strange name and certainly not a recognised firm - not sure I could put up with that on the dial, but perhaps more importantly, those lugs look very long so it might wear considerably larger than the case size would suggest.
