There is no way of being 100% sure from a couple of photos. Take it to a watchmaker or jeweller with all the paperwork and get the back off and have a look at the movement. Is this a watch you are considering buying? Is there something about it or the seller that makes you suspicious? If so, then don't buy it. Simple.

After comparing it to some Google image pics I'd say it looks OK (after checking details like the dial and bezel typeface etc) however, as said above, that's still no guarantee. If the watch is for sale on the 'net could you post a link?

Perhaps Google the serial number? I believe that most "convincing" fakes will use the same serial number on their models.

Yep. I'm guessing it was someone's first go. Drunk. Blindfolded.

The pin in the strap lug shouldn't make that much damage to the steel of the case! Worst you should get is a light surface mark, not those gouges. Perhaps it's a fake made with a very inferior steel alloy. Some use mercury for added 'shinyness'. (Bet that put you off)

I googled Tudor Black Bay as well, and the images show the hands are finished in silver rather than black.

Just the picture then. Do you have the watch? Popping the back off, photographing the movement and posting it here would be a good way of ascertaining originality

Pip on bezel is correct, and printing of logo and spacing.
Those lugs have been well hacked at – really unsteady hands.
If you’re paying any more than £1200-1300 for it, just spend the extra on a new/better condition one from Chrono24.

I read a pretty decent article on spotting a fake Black Bay - it's of the red one, so there are a number of differences which won't necessarily be so apparent (the tone of the dial colour will be easier for a faker to get right on the BBB, I suspect) but it may be useful: http://timeandtidewatches.com/alert-there-are-fake...

The strap on that one obviously isn't original. Tudor want a fortune for an original bracelet or strap so make sure whatever comes with it is in decent condition or adjust the price accordingly. And if you do buy it and find you have a spare original Tudor strap deployant, PM me smile

Those lugs just ruin the watch for me.

Hold out for another , unless it's really cheap. Does look genuine .

Incorrect.

Most 'expensive' fakes nowadays have random serial numbers.
