Hi.

I have just sold my watch to a buyer in Denmark, although I wanted to avoid PayPal he has agreed to pay the fees so I get the full amount.
We have spoke via email and whatsapp and he has provided, ID (drivers license and health card), proof of address, screen shots of his PayPal to verify address and thats its not a new account etc.

Genuinely seems OK. My next worry is protecting my self whilst in transit and any other potential scams.

The watch will be sent with DHL insured delivery (insurance to £5600), it will be double boxed and I will cover in packaging tape.

Is there any more tips to protect my self from any potential pit falls?

Thanks in advance

First thing is don't double pack it before taking to DHL. They want to see what's in any package going airmail, so need eyes on the watch before it packaged.

Second thing is DHL are excellent.

Don't really know about paypal scams, but I think there is a way a buyer can claim back the full amount if he uses 'buying a product or service' and later declares it wasn't received. DHL of course are signed for so that scam wouldn't work.

Why do they wish to pay via PayPal, I can only assume it's for the additional protection it provides them as a buyer meaning you are open to possible scams if the buyer starts questioning the watch that is delivered claiming it's fake etc.

The safer option for you is to take a bank transfer from the buyer leaving them carrying the risk through basically no comeback.

What if it is signed for, the buyer receives it then replaces it with a fake watch and raises a dispute with Paypal? Meanwhile, the original watch "disappears"? Not saying that is likely, but what protection is there against this??
