Hello, this is my first post in the watch section, I am not really a watch wearer but my Father has offered me his aqua racer, tis stainless steel, black faced with a nautical brass divers helmet on the battery cover. If I recall, he purchased it around the mid 2000's..
Question is, is it possible to replace the lost box/papers? How much is it worth with and without. Can the bracelet be resized at any high street? How much would it cost to have the bezel refurbed (the luminous "dot" positioned at 12 O'clock is missing)
I realise tags are considered cheap tat by some but I've always wanted one and being able to have my Dads watch would mean a great deal to me, the box and papers being missing are not a concern as it would never be sold. Lastly, is it a watch that could stand up to being wore daily?
Any replies greatly appreciated guys :-)

It's not a rare watch.
Take a gander at ebay for an idea of what it's worth privately, Chrono24 for what a dealer would sell one to you for.
The high street should be able to take links out or add links to the bracelet - provided you have the spare links.
Yes it's a daily wearer.
No idea on the box and papers.

Do you mean to sell? If not why do you care about proving the authenticity of the watch?
Almost all jewellers will be able to change the bracelet size for you, as for a refurb i would be surprised if Tag would do it for a reasonable cost/at all so you would potentially be looking at the likes of Variomatic on here who may be able to source genuine replacement parts otherwise your onto replacement parts at which point only you can say if you prefer a 100% Tag watch with a few odds and ends missing or the refurbed parts bin.
As for people on heres opinion of Tag watches, i think there are a few people on here who have an opinion formed through knowledge which makes them like or dislike them but a majority who just jump on the bandwagon of calling them expensive tat.
Remeber the first rule of watch collecting, if you like it and can afford it, buy it.

Couple of pictures of my new (to me) watch. Having only wore sub £100 watches, handling/wearing this is miles above. I don't know how much the retail would of been when purchased new, and I am well aware this could be viewed as a cheap watch but all things considered.. I love it. Checking ebay, prices seem to be around £400 to £650, does that sound right? Lastly, I now understand how collecting watches can be highly addictive! I'd love to try a nice carrera or an Explorer..

Hi, I wear Tag Heuer watches too, and I love them. Don't be put off wearing/collecting them because of brand snobs who'll talk Tags down.Totally agree with the above, I buy a TAGHeuer because I like how they look and their association with motorsport.
If that makes me a marketing victim, so be it, I don't care.
It's about buying the watch YOU want to wear, not buying it because some geek on an online forum claims its a "better watch"
A watch is there to tell you the time, everything else is just down to personal taste.

Not sure I would bother replacing the lime pip, works just fine as it is!
