The new Daytona
Discussion
I went into the Rolex boutique in Zurich yesterday to enquire about the new Daytona. They had a "prototype" of the white and black face. I tried them both on - clearly they are very similar to the current model. The lady was pointing out various small differences, but to my untrained eye they weren't particularly noticeable. If anything the new one felt a little bit lighter. Other than the black ceramic bezel the thing that stood out for me was that the black faced one seemed more readable than the current model.
I currently have the black faced model. Before I tried them on, I'd thought that I wanted the white face. The same happened today. The white was very nice, but the black seemed a bit more subtle. I've but my name down for one when they are released. She told me there was a big waiting list, but didn't give any hints about how long before they gave me a call. Just said they would be available in July. They said the same about my current one and it took about 2 months, so fingers crossed.
I also asked about getting the case polished and bezel replaced, basically to prep for sale. She said it would cost about £500 of which the bezel would be £150. That seemed way too cheap to me. Does anyone have any experience of replacing the bezel?

When I last spoke to my AD his list was already 2 years+, clearly different AD's get more supply but demand currently appears to be huge.I recently put my name down with Watches of Switzerland for a new Daytona and was told it will be number of years. I too currently have a black faced 2005 S/S Daytona and asked the same question about getting the bracelet and case refurbed, my watch doesn't need a service. I was tole Roles will only service the watch, which is faor enough and I know the watch will come back like new, the cost quoted for a service was £525.
