Hi All,

I am hopefully collecting a lovely IWC Portuguese Chronograph this weekend from somewhere around East London. I would obviously like to get it appraised prior to handing over payment. Hopefully you guys can guide me on this as it will be my first big money (to me!) watch. I have a Gucci and a Tag F1 also but the IWC will definitely be the flagship of my small collection.
Question is where can I get this watch appraised? I would be happy if it was just an assurance from somewhere reputable that the watch is genuine as I will be getting a more in-depth safeguard appraisal done once I have purchased it for insurance purposes.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Not that this is any help but I did a factory tour yesterday :-)

Is this a private sale? Arrange to meet the seller at the closest approved reseller, call them beforehand and ask if they can check it for authenticity. Does it come with box and papers? Is the price a fair reflection of market value or is it a blinding good deal?

Factory tour sounds awesome - how was it?

It is a private sale yes and it comes with travel box and IWC guarantee card with correct numbers. Its probably a few hundred less than I have seen the same model for on watches.co.uk and watchfinder so not an absolute blinder but good value I think.

Thanks for your help I will search for the nearest approved reseller and give them a bell.
