So my wife totally surprised me yesterday on my birthday. I have a couple of Raymond Weil watches that I had for my 24th & 34th respectively. Round faced Tango with metal bracelet for my 24th and a tank style with black leather strap for my 34th. I really like the brand, something to do with my Dad having one too I think.

We'd spoken a little bit about watches for my 44th which is a few years away but yesterday my wife appeared with this!

Limited edition number 13 of 200 (Lucky for some!) Nabucco Gibson, absolutely love it. It's a big weighty watch, probably too big for my wrist if I'm being honest but hell I'll join the gym! As guitarist who has a Epiphone Les Paul (not quite the Gibson yet) it's a perfect gift.

I only came across it in the pages of Octane mag. They always have a couple of pages showing nice "stuff" usually, watches, tools, artwork etc and I remember pointing it out, never thought for one minute it would turn up!

Question folks, it has an automatic movement. What do I need to look at in terms of a winder as it's not my everyday watch.

I've had a look online and the costs seem to vary wildly! What are you paying for? (genuine question not facetious comment) What does the £800 one do that the £80 one doesn't?

And what does an 80 quid winder do that 1 finger and 1 thumb can't do?! I have 3 automatics, one gets worn way more than the other 2.I don't have a windbreak manually winding now and then isn't a huge problem for me. try without and see whether you need some man maths and a trip to the frivolous stuff you don't need in the Lounge... and this from someone that would quite like a watch winder himself!!!

Very good point but let's be honest if we started using that argument on PH then we'd all be driving round in Dacia's & wearing a digital watch made in china that we bought down the market!

I've seen a few that also double up as watch/cuff link storage but just trying to get a sense of what I'm paying for.

This kind of idea was what I was looking at?
