Variomatic - Thanks!
Discussion
Just a quick post to say thanks to Variomatic and to spread the word (not that it needed doing around here!) about his good work.
My dad's daily watch, a very old Rado Dia Star Automatic had been playing up recently. It was not holding power for more than half a day and also losing approx 10 mins per day. Some TLC for the watch was in order...
My dad spoke to a few local watchmakers and the prices they quoted him for a service were quite high.
I told him that we should send it over to Joe, simply based on the feedback/good praise on these pages.
A quick call over to Joe to explain the issues with the watch. He sounded confident he could sort it, so with a rough price given over the phone, the watch was packed and sent over to him.
After having looked the watch over, he came back and said an overhaul was in order and that it would cost slightly less than was originally quoted over the phone. Bonus!
Fast forward a few weeks, and the watch was returned in perfect working order midweek last week.
I have been wearing it since (dad is away for a few weeks - thought i'd test it out), and it is keeping good time (+4 sec/day) and holding power when off the wrist.
Job done!
Will definitely keep Joe in mind for any future work needed. Top service, excellent communication and totally hassle-free. Should keep the classic watch going for a few more years. Thank You!
