Battery powered watch winder - recommendations?
Discussion
Hello, as insurance now requires I keep certain watches inside a safe I can no longer use my mains powered watch winder. As such I thought the best solution would be to buy a watch winder powered by batteries.
I found one that runs off 2xAAs but only keeps power for around a month, can anyone recommend me a unit that uses something stronger - maybe a few of those big chunky D batteries? Would be good to have one that lasts for at least a couple of months, if not longer. It should have bi-directional function as I will have a few different brands on them.
I'm certainly not fussed about a smart finish since it's going to be hidden away inside a safe! So just good battery life and enough features to ensure it will work with any watch. Can be single/double/bigger, doesn't matter as I can buy multiple winders if needs be.
Thanks for any tips!

This is an amazing one, 5 years battery life ... anyone used this brand?

I've a Wolf Designs watchwinder which operates on Type D batteries .... beat that
I've only got one for a single watch, but they do ones that hold more... wouldn't say they are cheap either

Thanks for the Wolf suggestion, I've been told around 3-6 months on batteries - have you ever put it to the test?
I switch between my watches frequently, so I'll use each at least once a week. That's why I like to keep them wound and set.
I use it on batteries only, but I don't run it constantly so would not be any good data for you....... still on its first batteries after 8 months thoughI switch between my watches frequently, so I'll use each at least once a week. That's why I like to keep them wound and set.
what I will is that it is very quiet, mines about 1.5m from my pillow and you don't know it's on (apart from the led lights)
