This is my first post in the Watch section.
I am looking at this watch as a potential Xmas gift for my wife.
She wants a large faced metal watch and strap, and this fits the bill.
The question is what is the quality like of Tissot and there be any haggling on the price or is the price point too low or any discount.

Thanks Andy.

In my experience they're a decent entry level brand that uses decent quality movements and sells their product at sensible prices.
I have a personal preference for mechanical movements (quartz just annoys me with the tick tick tick of the seconds hand) but a quartz may be better for your lady as she won't have to set it every time she wears it.
My other half wears a diamond encrusted automatic Tag and its annoying if she takes it off as I have to reset the time. She has a backup Rado which is quartz that's much less hassle.
You could also look at Bulova, Christopher Ward, Oris, and Seiko depending on your budget.

Tissot have been moving steadily down market for several years now.
A lot of their watches use cheap non repairable quartz movements. Generally the cases and straps are not as good as they were 15 to 20 years ago, but there are still some that are OK.
Having said that, they are still much better than the likes of Michael Kors, ICE, Anne Klein etc.
Within the Tissot range they still sell mechanical watches. Because the entire range has been moved down market, these mechanicals now represent excellent value for money. Pick a Tissot with a hand winding or auto movement and a decently finished case and you will have picked a good watch at a good price.

As Mike says, they've dumbed down on quality - especially in the movement department - over the last few years.
Combine that with the fact that you'll be tied to their authorised service centres in the near future (at prices dictated by them and almost invariably involving a full "service" for accidents like breaking the crown off because they're not supplying parts from 31 Dec this year, and it's really quite hard to recommend them.
If you can bear to turn your back on the "Swiss watch" myth then you'll get equal or better quality, better value, and FAR better support from Citizen or Seiko.
