The NEW Snoopy!

Ruined with that shyte text on the face! Argh!

Maybe now some of my previous comments about the almighty ubiquitous Speedie will be finally understood.
Since the Aqua Terra and the recent GSOM, Omega have given the impression that their design department has been running on little more than fumes, for a while.
I like it! A lot
OK I could do without the "what could you do in 14 seconds" text, but the sleeping (lumped!) Snoopy dreaming "failure is not an option" is a nice touch. And the back of the case is gorgeous.
It also doesn't seem to have too much of a premium over the Speedy pro after its recent price hike.
I am sick of the limitless Speedy limited editions, but I think this is a bit above the usual ones they churn out.
I think the white face and nylon strap look great too and different enough from a Speedy Pro that one could justify having both...

Also really liking this, sounds like justification practice there lol
Yep, exactly
Trouble is if I was going to spend that much on a watch I'd want it to be perfect, and that 14 second thing just seems to be over egging the pudding.
That small Snoopy and the film quote would have been just enough I think.
The white face and lumed bezel (and Snoopy!) look fantastic I think, and it would complement my Pro perfectly. And like I said it is the only Speedy special edition that I think makes sense (apart from the original Snoopy that is)
It is also interesting that it is going to be a proper "limited" limited edition -1970 I believe. Is this a sign that Omega are unsure of their ability to shift many of these, or maybe even they realise the constant limited editions are getting too much?
Plenty of time till September to decide. Assuming I don't cave in to the temptations on another thread and take a day trip to Amsterdam in the meantime...

I have one of the original Snoopy Speedies and have to say, this new one is vile in comparison. Really surprised they've made another Snoopy...perhaps they'll re-issue all of the existing special editions...
2019 will see yet another batch of 50th Anniversary models - and they went nuts last time!funinhounslow said:

Me too.

Rather than just printing a mission patch on it, this is a genuine tribute to the Apollo XIII mission and Omega's part in it and I am very keen on it indeed. The text wouldn't even be seen unless looking for it, only you'd know it was there and it'd make you smile every time.
I want one, and the caseback is absolutely stunning.
I love it, especially the case back.
I think I'd rather have an original as I have lusted after those for a number of years now, but I can't find a bad word to say about this new one.
One of the things I really love about the original is that it looks almost like a kids watch, but really nothing could be further from the truth.
I really want one of these, but I imagine they are going to be quite expensive.

Production of 1970 seems low compared to the original (which iirc was 4,000+). I really like all of it apart from the quote in the middle. The sleeping snoopy and the caseback are brilliant. The ceramic bezel is a nice touch too. The white face complements the 'moon' watch nicely.
As for the nylon deployment strap - I think Omega already sell this, but it's quite pricey (I think it's in the region of £500). I recently bought one of the new Omega black natos for my Speedy moon for £180 and love the way it now looks.

I don't get it. Why ruin a premium watch by putting a cartoon character on it? Why has this made it more collectible? I'd rather have a basic version.
The bonkers thing is that they give it a premium price.
Funnily, I was just looking at Snoopy watches (as I have a Seiko Snoopy) and the original prices were normal for watches with a famous cartoon dog on them. What has make some of the watch prices more eyebrow-raising is the rarity of them, not the RRP.
