I prefer Coke but want Pepsi
Discussion
Very sincere guy in Fraser Heart recently told me he'd been at Rolex a couple of weeks ago and they'd ruled it out completely. Apparently just to expensive/complicated to roll out those colours in steel.
He had nothing to gain from bulls
tting me tbh, though I'm sure the black/blue has done amazingly well for them so who knows...

Is 'steal' a typographical error, or a damning indictment of Rolex's pricing policy?
Lol. I meant steel but maybe subconsciously my head made me type steal. How much extra do you think it costs Rolex to make a red colour bezel? Obviously it is not thousands. Say it is a couple of hundred pounds per watch then I would be happy to pay that. there must be a huge demand because all I have heard about the white gold GMT is that it is only for the mega rich and everyone wants a "steal" version.

Since they do the blue/black in steel that doesn't make a lot of sense... He had nothing to gain from bulls

I can only assume that its easier to manufacture a bi colour if it is half black. I actually prefer the Blue-Black and I'm certain that the blue represents Pan-Am's logo colour as its identical. Apparently the original Ref 6542 Pepsi with the bakelite bezel represented Pan-Am's colours but not sure where the red fitted in.

I've read on one of the Rolex forums that it is very expensive and why they won't be doing it..........something to do with the ceramic process and red pigment in particular. How much extra do you think it costs Rolex to make a red colour bezel? Obviously it is not thousands.
Don't know how true or not that is, but that's the rumour.

I have been to a couple of Rolex evening events and at the last one they told me that the cost of producing the Pepsi bezel was far to high to incorporate into steel watch pricing.
Apparently it costs about £3k and it is the red specifically that causes the issue.
I've heard the same story and frankly it doesn't really matter if it's true or not - the number of pi***d off ppl if they release a steel version with pepsi ceramic bezel and the effect on residuals for the WG is such that they must have thought about it long & hard before releasing the WG oneApparently it costs about £3k and it is the red specifically that causes the issue.

I read that the red/blue contrast was for AM & PM time zones. R6VED said:

Oh well. Rolex have been disappointing this year. Maybe next year for a Pepsi GMT.
Won't happen Craig. The 'Pepsi' is an option on white gold. The steel option is the BLNR Blue/Black. It's the different colour options that define the model. To do a steel 'Pepsi' would cause confusion, and be very un-Swiss. Can't help but hope I suppose...

I love the White Gold Pepsi but I don't love the older Pepsi models. I think the Ceramic bezel makes all the difference. I would but a Sub or Sea Dweller with a ceramic bezel. A dealer told me yesterday that Rolex won't release the GMT Pepsi in steel because of the White Gold but know on is buying the White Gold anyway. I don't really understand.
