Where would you buy a homage Breitling Navitimer from?
Rotary do a pretty decent 'homage'.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284142738369?_trkparms=...

It is indeed a good watch, keeps excellent time, looks great, not too bulky but has presence, had to replace my strap after around 16-17 years.

I cannot stand their videos. The voice over, the writing, the production - just everything about them makes me cringe... is it just me?
Sorry about that….it is more than a bit cringe, but they do do excellent macro shots and it really shows the quality of the 5. BigFatTopHat said:

Did someone on here have a Straton a while back?

Be gentle....
It's my first visit to the Watches thread and this thread really caught my eye. I'm after a watch around the budget and have looked at the Seiko 5.
Main reason is my "dress watch" looks like it will need to go back to TAG (I know, I know, I was young and foolish but it was a gift and has huge sentimental value).
I'd rather go new so what can anyone here recommend?

I know very little about watches and any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Firstly, welcome to our little corner of tinternet, secondly, we don't stone, belittle, berate or any other type of put down, thirdly, owning a TAG is nothing to be ashamed of, and lastly, what style are you looking for? Do you prefer quartz or automatic? It's my first visit to the Watches thread and this thread really caught my eye. I'm after a watch around the budget and have looked at the Seiko 5.

That’s a nice watch. Very niceIf you're seriously considering the Seiko 5 I think the only thing you won't like is the bracelet, they're not the best.

+1, an absolute cracker. Let’s hope the repair isn’t too spenny.
Deep breath.....So I regularly get it serviced every 3 - 4 years (Goes to TAG and comes back 2 months later...) via a Jeweller local to me. The last service and I quote
"Full Service and replacement crown as well as new gaskets" 12/12/20
So the Jewellers called me yesterday and said "looks like it has to go back to TAG and the crown replaced and that has to be done with a service" Erm... It only just got replaced?
Waiting to see what happens next but lets just say the "Service" was over double this threads budget.....
Sigh....

The jet-set lifestyle of an opera singer in great demand!!! :
It doesn’t feel very jet-set, sitting here at Heathrow bus station, eating a cold pasta salad whilst eating for a coach to Milton Keynes and trying not to get Covid. Barchettaman said:

Surely any art form is better existing/performed than not. Warts and all.
Absolutely, and I quite agree. I suppose the point I was making was…well, as performers we have obligations: to the composer and librettist, to the director, conductor, colleagues, and of course to the paying public. What we put out there has to be the very best that it can possibly be, both to (hopefully) guarantee the future of the art form, and (in my case) satisfy one’s professional conscience. WRT tonight’s show, I fear decisions have been taken both by management AND by singers to do roles that they’re just not currently capable of performing to an international standard. I hope I’m proved wrong.
Apologies all for the rambling post, and massive thread drift!
I understand where you're coming from, as an engineer in the aerospace industry I try to be professional at all times, what I produce must be right, whether it's making a component or creating an SOP to produce that component, sadly not everyone feels the same way.

I find it weird how watches can 'wear small' or 'wear big' - for example, the ProPlof 'homage' ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
Again, just say counterfeit. ![wink](/inc/images/wink.gif)
