So that's where Rolex got the idea from!

So where are the "safest" places to get a Seiko 5 Sport? I'm a bit nervous about moody Seiko's. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Looks like I missed the boat on the HM Samuels sale on the one I wanted. (also read open boxes etc)

Cheers T1b
I've noticed Amazon usually match the price of sales of other websites directly from themselves.

I've not actually heard of or seen anybody talk about fake Seiko 5 Sports now that you say that, surely you're looking at watch shops anyway that will be authorized retailers.

Yes, it was just the banner about fakes on the Seiko boutique website (Then again I'd imagine that would be further up the Seiko food chain).

Theres one for sale in Greece that you want, might be worth making a cheeky low offer.

Somewhat over budget biggrin but there's the two-tone Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 (80 hour power reserve) in that H Samuel sale for £389, down from £590:

Good shout Paul. If those are back in stock at that price, I'd pull the trigger. I tried one in Selfridges a month or so back and couldn't convince myself it was a 600 quid watch, but sub 400 would be a deal.

On another tack - all the nonsense being expended on those fun but obv overpriced Moonswatches (have you seen that thread? Utterly hilarious, almost as crap as the Rolex threads) at least got me looking at the real thing for the first time since I was 20 years old.

As a result, pulled the trigger on this...

That red/green one makes my eyes hurt and my brain think it needs old-skool 3D specs to look at it biggrin lol

The second one is sharp - I love a minimalist look smile

35mm?

That is very small in today's market trends!

40mm really doesn't wear that large once you are used to it smile It's no 47mm PAM! laugh lol

I think someone on this thread has the blue 40mm version in quartz??

The 35s were announced earlier this month - https://timeandtidewatches.com/introducing-five-ne...

Mid to late 30s seems to be the darling size at the moment. In the big comments sections and on forums there are posts about new 40mm watches saying 'I wish this was a 39mm' hehe

The 40 does look like a bigger watch in the flesh thanks to all that case. Not a bad thing, but noticeable when next to a round 40mm dress watch which is most probably all dial (so already looks bigger).

I've not actually gone to try a 40mm one yet but I've got boney 6.5" wrists so if the case wears big L2L it doesn't fit well, especially on a bracelet. Alot of pictures I've seen on people with average size wrists it still looks pretty big though.

I may be letting my personal taste influence my comments here tongue out lol hehe

The smallest I've got is 39mm IIRC (maybe a 38mm?) and anything smaller than that just feels tiny! laugh (My wrists are 6.75" or so.)

I find it weird how watches can 'wear small' or 'wear big' - for example, the ProPlof 'homage' wink would instinctively look maaaaassssiiiivvvve, but actually doesn't look that big or feel that big, presumably because the dial itself is not that large so it doesn't visually dominate in the same way as, say, a 47mm PAM 'homage' does (which is pretty much what greg is saying above now I've re-read the last few posts!). smile

I guess the point is that we need to try these things on and make a decision on a case-by-case basis!

That’d be me.

It’s absolutely lovely. Well worth trying it on. The case and bracelet are superb.

I got mine very lightly used for a hair over thread budget.

I think the Powermatic 80 for under £400 should definitely get a thread pass as it’s punching so far above its weight!

In other news my Smiths PRS-40 has arrived, full review to follow if anyone is interested.

Depends on whether it's pretending to be made by Omega or has a different makers name on, if it's sporting a different makers name it's perfectly acceptable to be an homage.

Yea you definitely need to see watches in person to make a solid decision.

Its not actually the case size thats the issue though, its the lug to lug of the case, if the lugs hang off over your wrist too much then its hard to make a bracelet work or even fit.

I've got a 41.5mm Oris Aquis which fits perfect because of its integrated bracelet/lugs so it makes the L2L points very short.

Also I've got a Seiko 5 Sport SRPD which is measured at 42.5-43mm but it has a 46mm L2L, I think it actually looks kind of small on my wrist.
