The very best of luck indeed. Sometimes the stuff cobbled together at the last minute and winged a bit is the best stuff.
Thanks. We’re going to need it. People just don’t know their roles, through no fault of their own; there’s just no one else available.
One could make an argument that they shouldn’t have agreed to jump in, but we’re coming out of the pandemic and the majority of singers have had no, or very little, work for two years.
I fear Friday is going to be a clusterf

I love the red led display on that and thought about it but then I saw the new Swatch X omega watches and I have to have one!Stayed for the opera updates.

Early doors trip to London on Saturday!
At only £207 it's an utter bargain!

I’m definitely doing it. They’re available at the Swatch store in Frankfurt. https://www.swatch.com/en-gb/bioceramic-moonswatch...

Maximum 2 per customer, so the plan is to keep one, flip the other one for a cheeky profit and hopefully end up with mine for free.
There are two stores really close in London (carnaby street and Oxford Street) so I had the thought get two from one and hopefully walk round to the other and get two more!
And like you say sell two to pay for the others.
Just wondering if there will be a queue from like midnight though

It’s a bit annoying they the are in three shops in London, firstly why not go out to the regions there is a Swatch shop only 30 miles away, second I would have been in London this weekend but due to a job change I’m not And like you say sell two to pay for the others.

What's special about them? Aren't they just a cleverly-marketed 200 quid quartz? What am I missing? Maximum 2 per customer, so the plan is to keep one, flip the other one for a cheeky profit and hopefully end up with mine for free.
Do you think you will be able to flip one for a profit? Swatch have tweeted to say these are not limited and will be sold online in due course.
I also think there will be a lot of disappointed people on Saturday morning once they hold it in their hands. The watch looks good in the pictures but in reality it will just be a cheap plastic swatch and will be as light as a feather.

You can probably flip for a bit, but nothing substantial.I also think there will be a lot of disappointed people on Saturday morning once they hold it in their hands. The watch looks good in the pictures but in reality it will just be a cheap plastic swatch and will be as light as a feather.
Swatch have already said they are not limited and will be freely available online sometime after launch.
Even with a rush of buyers I don't imagine manufacturing a plastic watch in large quantitys quickly is really a problem either.
Over budget, but some of you might be interested-in this. Quite novel and a good cause, lifted from the Incoming Thread.

Well obviously I can’t guarantee it will, but assuming I get two, I’ll try and make a few quid on the spare and if I can’t sell it I have a mate getting married in the summer, he’s into his watches, he’ll appreciate it. So win-win really.

However for me I'm unexpectedly free all weekend so I can make the two hour trip down to London to try and get one (or two!)

k of epic proportions!
Surely any art form is better existing/performed than not. Warts and all. People just don’t know their roles, through no fault of their own; there’s just no one else available.

Absolutely, and I quite agree. I suppose the point I was making was…well, as performers we have obligations: to the composer and librettist, to the director, conductor, colleagues, and of course to the paying public. What we put out there has to be the very best that it can possibly be, both to (hopefully) guarantee the future of the art form, and (in my case) satisfy one’s professional conscience. WRT tonight’s show, I fear decisions have been taken both by management AND by singers to do roles that they’re just not currently capable of performing to an international standard. I hope I’m proved wrong.
Apologies all for the rambling post, and massive thread drift!

I understand where you're coming from, as an engineer in the aerospace industry I try to be professional at all times, what I produce must be right, whether it's making a component or creating an SOP to produce that component, sadly not everyone feels the same way.
