Ooopppsss, I just bought another watch.............to be fair Mrs Bobbers did tell me to buy it!!!

AVI-8 Spitfire Woolston Ltd edition, with discount code £239.25, I have a bit of a personal connection to this as Woolston was the main design and assembly plant for the Spitfire, my Grandfather was ground crew repairing them and I lived in Woolston for a period of my life.

Superb decision by Mrs Bobbers, and what a brilliant reason to buy a really lovely watch! Top work, chap!

Me too. That Spitfire shaped rotor is absolutely class. What a great watch!

Nice one Bobbers, and the family connection makes it extra special. Nerd question: is that a Miyota base movement with a custom rotor?

That looks really good Bobbers, like the well balanced clear dial and simple case. Just what this thread is all about.

There's some questions about which movement is used, some citing the venerable Seiko NH35 some citing a Miyota, to be fair I wouldn't know which was which, AVI-8 just state Japan Movement.

It is a nice simple face, one of the things I liked about it.

AVI-8 Are under the Dartmouth group along with Spinnaker, who nearly always use Seiko movements. I reckon that's most likely.

Having compared that open caseback photo with one of the NH35 I’d now be inclined to agree.

Nicely done Bobbers. That Spitfire oscillating weight is a lovely touch.

Does direction to buy a watch from Mrs Bobbers mean that the purchase can not be guilt tripped, or used filed away for use in any completely unrelated future argument?
If so, have you considered renting out Mrs. Bobbers to perform watch purchase authorisation for those of us who have, until now, had to run the gauntlet of horologically triggered menopausal wrath? Perhaps she could issue certificates of authorisation that we could cower behind, as if they were shields of steel...

This time next year you'll be millionaires!

My fathers family lived in Woolston too, they were in Longmore Crescent. Most of that side of the family worked for Vospers rather than Spitfire Marine though.

The Avi-8 is not my style. But I'm cuffed that you're chuffed.

Thanks BrokenSkunk, she's a weird one to be sure, she'll give permission for some things and yet not for others!! confused
As for filing it away for use later, to be fair she doesn't do that..........
Or at least not yet.......

What an absolute bargain. I think I will have to grab one of these but will likely plump for the black bezel one to keep more of the vintage aesthetic.

Thank you - I’ve had it for a couple of years now and (apart from the original strap) it’s been a good purchase. A lot of my watches are mechanical so this one is a good “go to” option if I’m running late and the others have all stopped
