It's a teenagers watch!

I don't mean that it's suited exclusively to a not quite fully grown and decidedly underwashed wrist, more that only a teenager will understand the morse code like sequence of button presses required to get it to tell the time, reset the stop watch, order a can of redbull, or whatever else it can do.

My girlfriend decided she liked some of my collection and asked for a watch for herself. There are not that many interesting choices for women when it comes to watches in the sub £200 range, and the ones at shopping centres are mostly always quartz and overpriced.

Found this Carnival watch on Ali Express for around £60 delivered.

Very small obviously, as you can see next to my 40mm Cestrian! Can't remember but looks to be about a 30mm case.

The spec is pretty decent. Sapphire crystal, solid links & ends, milled clasp and what looks to be a Seagull automatic movement. The dial states "genuine diamonds" for those on the hour markers, which is the only dislikeable thing so far since I'm sure they won't be (maybe they are? How much are low grade tiny diamonds worth?)

I've had the watch on the winder for the last four days, it's gained about a minute which is better accuracy than my Seiko Alpinist (not that I overly care). Hell, even the lume is pretty good.

All in a good purchase!

decided to go for this .... seemed a bargain for an automatic watch, in the style i like - i'll prob. get a Rally style strap for it eventually.

Looks smart, I like it, what movement is it? Details are scarce on the TK Maxx

£130 for a Swiss watch, bargain indeed. Usually cost over £300.

It's a Sellita SW200 by the looks of it, itself a copy of an Eta 2824.

I know it’s over budget but does anyone have any brand experience or thoughts? I really like the colours on this and I’m long overdue a treat.

I prefer the opinions on this thread to the wannabes or show offs elsewhere.

I have four Marloe watches and I'm very happy with them all. None have been as expensive as the one shown though. All being around the £300 range. I could maybe post up some pics later if you're interested ?

Correct. It’s a Wenger Urban Metropolitan. There are reviews on YouTube.

One thing to bear in mind: I saw a buyer’s review (in French) on Amazon that said it filled up with water the first time the owner did the washing up with it on.

A work colleague bought this a couple of months ago, he's worn it a couple of times but can't get on with it, the strap has been shortened a little, open to sensible offers.

Although not a fan of the metal bracelet, that looks rather nice, certainly seems to deliver a lot for price.

Yes, I’m aware of Barchettaman’s penchant for playing ‘dress up’ as part of his profession.

Only on PH; Smart enough for a suit, casual enough for Lederhosen and sandals.

What makes this place so special.

He has a number of watches, bought this as he fancied a smart watch but with analogue face, reviews are very good, I can find out more from the actual owner today.

Well its here and working perfect. Its pretty nice and not too thick, a little larger than i thought (for my puny wrist size) and the strap is a fiddle but feels like a good strap....still fancy a Rally on it though....

Hello,

I had this exact watch and it is lovely in the flesh. Quality is on point too.

I bought it as a holiday watch, but it didn’t make it that far.

It’s classed as 42mm, but it wears much smaller and has a small lug width of 20mm. I just found it a bit dainty. Just person preference as I prefer big chunkier watches.

As long as it’s your size and style I’d thoroughly recommend though.

Nice, but I remember when the 5 was the ‘go to’ watch on the Under £50 thread. Doesn’t seem that long ago either!

That looks really good. I have no ownership experience but I’ve heard good things about Marloe

Spoke to the owner today, he clipped around 15-20mm off the end of the strap as he has girly baby wrists smaller wrists and the end of the strap annoyed him.
It is completely unmarked, was genuinely worn a couple of times, still under warranty as only a couple of months old, he is willing to accept £100 for it.
