Happy anniversary eccles, the watch is a nice find!!

I tried a Certina DS Precidrive titanium on on Saturday, it's kinda made my mind up that I don't want a titanium watch anymore, was far too light weight for me!!

Fair enough. I sold on my Vanuatu as it was too chunky. It was pretty solidly built though, to be fair.

I wrote to Matt at Helm Watches and suggested he put his energies into making a slimline dress diver with the Miyota 9000 movement, he replied saying his next design was going to be a field watch.

It seems I’m the only person on the planet who doesn’t like mahoosively chunky dive watches, and yearns for a sub-10mm, 100m wr dress watch with a divetime bezel.
New around here, but been lurking for some time.

If you haven't already, check out the Nordso from Henry Archer. Above thread budget, but may be possible to find it close to budget on ebay, etc. I've had my eye on it for some time as I have a weakness for slim, dressy divers and this one really seems to tick all the boxes. Bonus marks for beads-of-rice bracelet and multiple dial colours!
Hello and welcome to our little corner of tinternet, you have no idea just how pleased we are that you finally decided to pop your PH cherry in our little thread!!!
Just be aware that CdeG doesn't like mesh bracelets, Barchettaman is a luvvy, BrokenSkunk is a serial watch purchaser, I like hugs, there are a few with a series watch addiction and several of us are enablers!!!

Hello chaps! Bit of a lurker here, have filled a small watch box with a decent selection (including one thread worthy watch) however I lost my collecting desire... until I started reading this thread!

Good guess but no!

It's this gorgeous little thing.
Can I ask where you found this watch? I've been hankering after a Bell&Ross-alike for a while however the prices have always put me off, especially after the increases in the last year or so since I bought my last new 'nice' watch.

Well I've just ordered two cheap Sekonda watches as I couldn't decide whether I wanted a bracelet (I can hear the shouts of disapproval already) or leather style - and I wasn't sure how I'd get on with a crown on the "normal side" being a right wrist wearer.

I'll give them a few days each then once decided, I've a budget of thread anyway to spend - quite a fan of the Citizen Eco-Drive watches, but also tempted by the Tommy Hilfiger item thats massively reduced on Amazon, but I'm not usually a gold kind of person.
clap
Well done!!!

You're wrong with that assumption.

Can't stand the bloody things. Too much of a ladies jewellery vibe for my liking. Rubber or leather preferred for me, although that also has a vibe when I think about it. wink

Yep… so is it leather..

Or rubber?
yikes
Another two pictures from my person portfolio!!!!
I really need to find out who's leaking these pictures of me!!!!

I'll wager that Bobbers has a watch on a rubber strap to match that outfit too.
I must say Bobbers, your gimp suit is remarkably slimming. And what is going on with the black gloves? Had they sold out of blue nitrile?
Of course, a black on black G-Spot Shock!!!
As for the gloves, I wouldn't dare mix blue and black!!! How very Avant Garde!!!!

That's Bobbers sorted out for Christmas day then.

If I ordered a watch now from another continent so that it got here in the new year, does that count as a 2023 watch or a 2024 watch?

If the purchase price is below thread budget but import taxes take it just over can the watch be included in this thread?

Can't quite decide on hand colour, its a white dial which can have silver hands and markers or blue hands and markers, every time I look at pictures and videos of the watch I change my mind.
Virtually anything goes here as long as you don't completely take the piss and post a Rolex or something.
yes

Well my "last watch" has arrived, and yes I'm very pleased with it!!
There are some lovely details in the face/skeleton which are lovely to see, there are a couple of things though that I'm disappointed with also.

I'll start with the good stuff, lovely near smooth sweep, as good as my Christopher Wards easily, it is surprisingly legible but does require "looking at" rather than glancing at.
The colours work really well and highlight the shape well, talking of shape, it's actually really comfortable to wear!!
There are hour and minute markers slightly angled leading down to the "face" are nice and easy to see.

The packaging is also quite delightful, being a faux leather box!!

And now the bits I'm not happy with, firstly it's a non hacking movement, which for a £350 full price watch I would certainly expect it to be a hacking movement.
Secondly, the black portions of the case are plastic, again, for a £350 watch I would expect the whole case to be stainless steel.

Summary time, I really like it, I love the design and shape, it wears nicely, I actually think it's quite striking in appearance and feels very well made, would I pay full price, absolutely not, am I happy at the price I paid, definitely.

Ok so my state of the collection post, first two shots show my collection as a whole now that I've filled both boxes.

The next shot is of the 3 watches my wife has bought me, the first is my Citizen Promaster Bullhead bought after we'd settled her mum's estate, the second is another Citizen but in an unusual colour scheme bought for my birthday this year on a whim, and the third is my Christopher Ward C65 Acquitain GMT bought for me when she unexpectedly inherited some money from her nan, they are all important to me due to the fact that my wife bought them for me.

The last picture is of the 2 Bulova's I bought myself for my 50th birthday, the first being a Bulova Future and the second a Bulova Stars and Stripes.
