I tried this watch (with a black leather strap) on in Wempe a week or so ago, I went there specifically for that reason. Really lovely thing it was but it just didn't grab me like I was hoping, had it worn well enough I would have snaffled one there and then. Bit gutted really, was so looking forward to seeing one in the metal as well, may have to give it a second chance.
For me the mesh bracelet is what just makes it. That said I haven't seen one in the flesh yet... Tomorrow will tell!
Oddly, the black dial chronoscope version doesn't come with mesh bracelet, so I've ordered a bracelet separately. Not too dear. About £70 from memeory. Having said that, Mrs SFP has her eye on it, so it may have to stay on strap so we can share it.frown

Hi Guys.

I'm considering the purchase of an AP Royal Oak offshore. It's a pretty sweet deal financially, but does anyone have any horror stories or good things to say about the piece?

C
It's made by one of the finest watch makers there is, the rest of it is personal preference really. Never been a fan of the ROO look myself, but that's just me smile

Out of interest, how much of a sweet deal is it? Link?
Discounted between 30 and 40%. New piece with standard 2 year warranty.

I'm starting to like the Royal Oak. At that discount I'd go for it.
However remember - if it's outside the EU and they hit you for tax, it'll be a big bill

Luckily in GB, so VAT included, but i've been caught by sales tax in the US before! ;-)

Well then best of luck. I was just worried that it could be a foreign seller and potentially dodgy. That makes the prospect more reassuring!

Edited for dodgy autocorrect.

I love that Mondaine watch dial. It's pretty well unique too. Maybe that's the wrong word but its one of the most distinctive faces and I think it's all the better for it. Sometimes the cases don't look quite as good in photos but in the flesh they're really nice watches. The red M emblem on the crown is a nice touch too. When you consider how many brands look the same as each other, Mondaine have a really good identity through the "station clock face" style.

- Saw one of these a few weeks ago and was very tempted! Love that the second hand pauses at the 5-second marks.

Just received a tastefully modified SKX007 - my first Seiko

Bought it with a view to doing a 'black bay' mod to it, but quite like it as it is

Nice.

Here are my two modded SKXs, there must be a million and one combinations of mod parts out there for them.

Looks red in that shot, the ring and stitching are actually orange.

Looks great with a 5mm thick domed crystal, you can make out the orange plongeur hand just to the left of 12 as well.

Currently somewhere between Duesseldorf and Heathrow:

Nice work-a-day watch with advantage of auto time zones so handy for weekends away too.

Had some Amazon vouchers c/o Amex so £165 all in.

Will tide me over until Steinhart get some more stock in (or I clear my Amex wink )

Why do I do it to myself ? Curiosity got the better of me, so fired up Google... Now wondering if advanced man-maths can somehow justify another watch...

Darn it if I dont have a thing about ORANGE at the moment. That looks loverly. It may very well be my new KTM related but I now hanker for an orange wrist ornament.
