Does anyone have or had an american pickup?

I'm struggling to find one vehicle that ticks all boxes, and the american pickup appears as close as I can get, but hesitant to make the move.

Long story short, I was going to buy a VW Transporter LWB but the toe capacity is to low, I then thought pickups, so test drove a Hilux, found it very bouncy, then drove a Navara, less bouncy but sitting position didn't suit me.

I've been told the new Ford Ranger is more SUV like than pickup which sounds good, but got me thinking about an American pickup.

Whats people experience with one?

Raptor is the preferred pickup but difficult to find.

I had a 2010 6.2 for 8 years and >50,000 miles. Wish I still had it.
I was thinking 2019/20 MY, they're upper end of my budget and still low enough miles etc.

I have a RAM Power Wagon, as an everyday vehicle, not especially for the pickup part, but as I never had one before, I gave it a go.

I have not looked at the Fords, I looked at Chevvy/GMC and chose the RAM, for the comfort and features.

Pros
It is comfortable,
Powerful,
Easy to drive.

Cons
It is huge and does not fit into carparks easily,
Turning circle is huge,
It is very thirsty.

Overall it is fun.

I do prefer the look of the F150 in particular the Raptor, but the Ram appears better value, and looks more modern inside.

I'm not too concerned about day to day practically, I'd be using it as a second vehicle, I'm sure parking would be a pain in the @55 but I'd not be doing it every day.

I test drove a new VW Amarok yesterday, mush nicer than a Hilux and Navara, only thing that would be an issue is the leg room in the rear seats, I've one tall boy and one starting to get tall and there is no leg room in the rear when I have the drivers seat where I want it. The American pickups all appear to have loads of room in the cabin? I also just like to novelty factor of the American pickup.

What about insurance?

Where did you buy the Ram?

I think I need to look at a couple of different trucks, I'm now leaning towards the Ram, interior quality and tech seems very superior to Ford and the Night Edition 1500's look sharp.

I'm in LA soon, will try and find a day to go take a look at them, but would like to see one in the UK or Ireland to see what it be like on our roads.

Raptor a good chunk wider than a ‘standard’ F150 as well. These seem to have a few different trucks in stock I’m sure you could go and look at a few.

Also these in Leeds usually have a few different trucks, I want this Super Snake but well out of my budget.

Have spoken to both on the phone, guys at ACE come across as helpful, and there is a girl at David Boatwright who really knows her stuff.

ACE had a nice Raptor but I've discovered they aren't classed as commercial.

Have also noticed Ram UK, haven't had time yet to call them, but there appears to be offical UK dealers?
