Hi folks,

Wondering if there's anything I should be looking out for with these. Currently visiting Ohio and I've found one I want at a dealer. It's only got circa 10k miles on and it's got a few basic mods (Skyjacker suspension, nice wheels, bigger tyres etc).

It's showing a warning that there's something amiss on the tyre monitoring system which the dealer thinks is just down to one of the tyres needing a couple of PSI in them. He seems a straight up guy and said it'll be sorted before it's sold. It's had a couple of oil changes, seems pretty clean aside of needing a damn good polish, and I'm pretty tempted to pull the trigger on it, but I wanted to make sure there's no other questions I should be asking or parts to look at.

Cheers smile

I would wonder why its only got 10 k miles on a 2007!!!!?? most diesel trucks in the states would have done that in a few monthes... i heard they did have a head gasket issue and EGR valve faults recently and injector trouble on the early ones , maybe its spent more time in the shop than on the road!!!

It's a late 2007 one. The owner used it to tow his boat, he's got a shed load of other toys!

Hi StuR The TPMS light (Tyre Pressure Monitor System) will be illumiated if it is low on pressure, or poss if he has bigger whees on it they may not have the TPMS sensor installed inside the rim (Like mine)

Have you got any pics of the truck? Generally speaking I have had no mechanical problems what so ever with mine.. Feel free to ask any questions smile

EDIT: If you were thinking of importing it here, Aa 2500 commands a 20% or 25% import duty as it is classed as a commercial vehicle, normal cars are only 10%

Plus your dreaded 20% VAT on the vehicle inc shipping costs

I guess this reply is too late tho for you!

Twiglove, import duty on a truck is 22% so you were almost right.

Be careful about the weight of it. I had a Ford F250 fail its SVA test yesterday because it's too heavy. If you can get it weighed before buying it it needs to have a kerb weight under 3425 kilos.

Thanks guys, I've since bought the truck, though it's getting some upgrades done at the minute and I'll be driving it from Ohio to Florida next month.

The import side of things I've got covered, helps having an export company hehe

I only took a few snaps unfortunately, back over there soon so I'll get some more. It's on a 4 inch lift if memory serves, but I think if I decide it's a keeper I'll get a 6 inch lift sorted for it and some nicer wheels.

It's an LTZ with pretty much every option ticked, full leather, climate, winter pack, yadda yadda. I'm planning on getting the wheels powder coated as I'm not so keen on the finish and they're not quite black enough for my liking, and I'm looking into getting a bit more power out of it.

Really smiten with it, the only thing I'm unsure about is the lack of space in the back, but it's perfect otherwise.
Still want a Raptor, but I like diesel power biggrin I think the only thing that'll change how long I keep it for now is the 2012 Sierra / Silverado. Time will tell smile

You're going to have a nightmare if you plan to register it in the UK. The new updated IVA test is red-hot on protrusions and they've been failing our cars on wheels being fowl of the bodywork. You'll need to find some skinnies for testing that's for sure...... Best of luck though.

Keep us posted as to how things go, IE when you get it into the country smile

Actually, Let me know when you are brining it in, I may require some asisstance in bringing back a transmission in the bed, to avoid certain duties wink

Not a problem chap, will do. I've got containers coming in from the US reasonably regularly too.

I think for now I'll just be sticking with a remap and exhaust power wise.

I was getting an indicated 21 (US) on the test drive, I expect the reality will be lower with it being lifted, but it wasn't bad at all.

Fortunately, at the moment, it still only needs an SVA test.

As I mentioned earlier though the biggest problem is going to be its weight. I'd be inclined to strip as much off it as possible before taking it in.

SVA has been replaced with IVA and the test parameters have changed. Almost all of the old SVA test centres are being closed too. Alot is changing in the world of vehicle importation.

Not yet for trucks.
