Where would I be able to buy proper US plates?

And also what would be correct for a 1969 Californian car, black plates with yellow or white digits???

I want proper plates with the word California properly embossed.

many thanks

I thought you were meant to be slimming down your cars, not buying more.

Anyway, what have you got now?

Nothing very exciting Roo...............Bought an old CA 240Z but I want some decent plates for the 68 Charger too.

None of the UK companies emboss the state or have the year etc.

Found a company in the states but they want $80 each plus shipping etc.

These are what was on my car when before it was imported.

It currently wears these

From www.states-plates.com. I think they look pretty similar.

Those look fantastic. Clearly these plates are an MOT fail but did you ever get pulled over?

They look great.....California embossed too by the look of it?????

The fuzz are never worried too much about plates and clearly the car wows them before they get hooked on the colour of the digits........most of my cars don't have front plates and I rarely get a tug

Yep, the California is embossed on mine - as are the 'tax' sticker recesses either side of that, which States Plates also sells...

Oh yes, I really like those California plates. My '66 Polara has just arrived from California and once the MOT and registration are sorted I'll be tempted to go with the same style as they would have been the ones in use when it was first on the road over there. Was going to go with the old style UK silver on black plates, to keep it strictly legal, but looks like the rules around plates aren't enforced too vigilantly.

My Lincoln has its original cast aluminium dealer license plate frames (around it's original black California plates), I just couldn't bring myself to take them off, so a set of States Plates was always going to happen.
