After a bit of advice really.

I posted a couple of years ago in this forum and ended up buying everything but an old Yank.

I now have a TVR Chimaera so I'm not wanting for speed or noise. I also have an immaculate little golf diesel for popping to the shops and general running about.

However, I still have a massive soft spot for fins and chrome, or the later muscle cars.

I'm just wondering how good a motor you can get for about £5000?

I'm not into anything later than the 80's, corvettes don't really do it for me... I'd love a mustang fastback but haven't won the euromillions wink

So what sort of stuff should I be looking at, and is importing a car from the US a good idea?

Trans Am
Cadillac Eldorado
Cadillac Seville

List is endless.

For £5000, By the time you import something it wont be worth it unless its really, really cheap but then that brings its own problems of viewing etc.

Plenty available in the UK. Car and classic website etc.

Get on eBay under the Classic American section and just sit there browsing for an evening.

Unfortunately, the 60s and 70s cars, of the cheaper variety, get eaten by rust, especially in this climate. Even the 80s cars suffer. For decent fins and chrome as opposed to plastic, I think £5000 might be the starting point and all the good stuff has risen in price in recent years.
