Surrey Street Rodders Custom and American car show on Friday 22nd at Rushmore Arena, Aldershot.

I'm planning to go this year with some mates but I've only been able to find out of date or patchy information on it and nothing official. The Surrey Street Rodders website is dreadful and doesn't appear to have been updated since 2008!

Does anyone know if you have to prebook and what time is best to arrive if you intend to bring a car to show? It says gates open at 10:00am but that's for public entry.

Be prepared for MEGA traffic hassle, it's nightmare some years so stopped going
even though it's only down the road.
Last time I went had to park on muddy wet grass. poor marshalling kept many groups from pitching up together and was expected to park in what can only be described as marshy grass.
If it rains the grass becomes a mudbath.
Good day out if it's dry with some sun.

What time do you reckon we'd need to arrive to avoid the worst of the traffic? I've never been before so like to give it a try, mate of mine went last year and said it was really good despite the pants weather.

Think you need to be looking at around 08:00hrs for a good parking spot.
Or aim to get in the area early, Rushmoor Cafe in Northcamp is good for breakfast
but there are loads of pretty decent cafes in the area.
Traffic starts to build early if the weather is good as the local traffic can get busy anyway.
Easy access from M3 or A31

Ok will make sure I get there early as travelling up from Brighton, should hopefully have a quiet run up in that case. Cheers for the advice.

It's a superb event and I wouldn't miss it for the world. However, the weather for the last 4 or so years has been ste and, as has been mentioned, it's so popular that the queues to get in/out are a pain.

The cross-section of cars on show makes it all worthwhile though.

Hopefully with Easter later this year the weather will be on our side. If it's peeing down, I'll be in the daily driver though!

I've been there two years running... and never found the entrance. There are fk-all signs up once you get to Aldershot. Try and get an exact location and good directions before you leave.

Thanks to the organisers' piss-poor signage I've vowed not to try again this year but a couple of people are nagging me to go. I might try again if the weather's OK.

I live 2 miles away and always try to go, if it rains it is a miserable mud bath. If it is sunny so many people turn up that they have to close all the roads. It can take hours to get in. well worth it though, just get there early. I will be cycling this year

Some pretty mixed responses! I'm going to give it a try, mainly because I've been invited to go with some freinds and I'm looking forward to the early morning run up the A23 before the BH traffic gets silly. Not looking forward to the drive home though!
