I put this in the holiday section but maybe better off here:

Never been before but did a lot of driving around the West Coast nearly 20 years ago. It's a long weekend stag do but I have just changed my flight back to get 3 extra days so I could actually see the place or get a V8 Camaro and do some driving.

Granted it's no point driving in New York City but my thoughts were to accompany the others to JFK when they fly home on the Sunday morning and pick up a car at the airport and then return it Tues night before my flight back.

So 50 odd hours of just me and the car, where should I go?

Oh and I have just applied for my photo licence as I have had the pink bit of paper for years. Would the new licence be enough for renting a car in the US or do I need an International Licence like needed all those years ago.

Cars rented back then were an Oldsmobile Ciero, a Pontiac Grandprix and a '69 Mustang 'vert V8.

Also advice on car hire ie prebook or just turn up and are the muscle V8s available from airport rental outlets.

Cheers

Anywhere outside of New York city. If you thought london was bad for congestion. Then try there. The state of the roads are far worse than anything you find here. I dont think there was a single road i went down, that didn't have a metal tempory cover over a hole on it.

Driving in NYC is awful, but there's some great roads not far from the city.

There's a ton of snow on the ground but the weather should be clear and all the roads are dry.

Head north of the city... I'd say go for a spin up the Taconic state parkway and have some fun, just be mindful of the state troopers!

If you need any advice text 201 314 7005 And I'll be happy to help.

deffo pre book, else you could be in the queue for hours and then find out they have nothing left in your price range

V8's are available but they only tend to have a few, so the chances of getting one are quite slim
