I have a 305 tpi IROC- pretty standard. Just put in a used T5 and I am getting a little too much whine in 1st through to 3rd gear (Non World class T5 manual).

Now after researching- it appears the gearbox casing is too weak on the T5 and this flexes over time meaning the gears are slightly off centre, creating the whine.

G-Force make new casings for the T5 and I could go down the rebuild with better casing route. Just wondered the best place that would be willing to do this or any other options I may have. Would prefer not to go the T56 route.

Any pointers? Anyone slling a T5? smile

For a proper quality re-build to any spec you need including full race with close ratio gearsets then this fella every time: Regarding you theory about casing strength I think you will find that John has answers to the problem and also parts used in the re-build that cure it....

British American Engines sells the Tremec TKO 'box which is sort of a massively beefed up T5.... you probably don't wanna shell out for a brand new gearbox but they are good... The t56 is a very different size and shape too, and heavier...

Yes these rebuilt/repaired/modded my Faceplated Tremec TKO II 2 years ago. Took major abuse since then on slicks at the drags.
Very pleased with the work.
