Ive sourced some parts from the US that are much cheaper than I can find here (viscous coupling for an NP249 Transfer Case) but I dont how import duty works on this stuff.

My parts are to go my Jeep only, does import duty still apply? Is there a way around it?

Many thanks.

If I'm not mistaken it's 5% duty plus the VAT.

Don't forget that the duty & VAT are charged on the total cost including shipping & insurance charges + if it comes via Parcelforce they also charge a handling fee, which is why most parts places seem to charge £ per $.

Buy stuff from Rock auto and always use fed Ex.

UPS and surface mail end up using parcel force who always screw you at this end.

I have had things sent to me from the US via fedex and have always been charged a handling/admin fee by Fed-ex in addition to the usual import duty and VAT etc.

Worse bit about it was that their bill shows up in the post well over a week after you have received the parcel and think you have gotten away with it. frown
