Spotted in Japan - what van is this ?

Saw this in the outskirts of Yokohama and wondered if you know what it might be ? (Chevy Astro ?)

Had a v8 sound track and was not slow pulling from the lights.

Chevy Astro.Really popular out there. A lot of the imports here of those are from Japan

Looks like an Astro/GMC Safari, as stated, but they don't have V8 out of the factory - FWD 4.3L V6

The one I used to drive (company vehicle) was rear wheel drive. I can't believe how much they sell for here.

They are 4.3 V6 as standard, and come with either rear or four wheel drive. With a decent exhaust they do sound quite V8ish at low revs. Having said that, it's pretty easy to drop a V8 in, the 4.3 (262ci) is basically a 350 small block with 2 cylinders lopped off.

My Safari came from Japan, they are/were a cult vehicle out there.
