Had a look at a 57plate one today. Thinking about one for my wife. Drove Omegas for years and was sad to sell the 3.2 Elite we had. My wife loved it.I now drive a 6.0 LS2 Monaro[Pontiac GTO],but she is not happy with the people carrier that replaced the Omega.
The CTS is well equipped and reminds me of the Omega.I know that the Cadillac Catera was an Omega in drag.
What should I be looking out for? I know there is a door lock problem and the fuel gauge plays up. Water in the boot and a brake sensor problem I think. The car is OK,but I have heard about these promlems. Thanks.

I asked the same question back in July and this is what was said.

I couldn't get a 3.6 in Scotland at the time and didnt want to travel as i was also using a Grand Voyager as a trade in so i settled for the 2.8.

I have had two in the family the one I have now is great 3.6 Sport Lux also has the V series Grill and 20" Cadillac Wheels very nice.

Had no problems with this in the last two years. The last one had the leaking boot but was done by Stratstone Wavendon and never had any other issues.
They are such a great car for the money.

Sat Nav and TV are a nice option Pre March 06 cars will get the £245 Road tax not the £445 the funny thing is they are all the same model cars anyway! 05 or 06 even if sold in late 07/08 they had just sat around for along time.

I love my CTS and looking to sell mine but only to buy another one! They are great just stay away form the Black interior's as the cream or grey look more class and make the whole car nicer the black looks to much black plastic feel. The Seats are great heated and Electric and all the Saftey and Security you could want for a car less than £8K in todays market.

Make sure you get one with a full Service history alot cars sat around for a while and never were serviced so this could be an issue as they get older.

I bought a CTS 3.6 late last year, I really do love the thing...for the money it is fantastic, all the toys and in 3.6 guise it doesn't hang around either, I have yet to see one on the roads by me as well, I like the rare factor!

The only thing I noticed is about the fuel gauge, it isn't very accurate, sometimes it shows I have 3/4 of a tank but the miles covered would easily have been half a tank or more but I fill mine once a week to the brim and go about my business.

Unfortunately due to a change of job I may be forced to sell mine soon though frown

Thanks for the feed back. Service book is not there! 1ST keeper is a lease company in Bristol.
Dealer says servicing was done by lease company or Nationwide. Doesn't fill me with hope. Car is at £7,995. Think I should be paying £5,995!

Walk away! On a late car should have the Service book with it or at least bills to prove service history. Lots more around for that price with History.
My car was full history all with Cadillac when I bought it and have kept it up since.

I love it,have had it since it was about 18 months old, luxury motoring at a bargain price.

Its now done 40K miles and runs extremely well.
In the time I have had it,I have only seen 3 others on the road!

Cargiant have had a few in recently, 07 cars with circa 30k miles, going for £6.5 - £7k, very tempting.

They now have one in for £5,999, '07 on a 57 plate, 20k miles, too good to be true? http://www.cargiant.co.uk/search/details-496355.as...

Not too good to be true in my two years of experience. That is the UK 'sport' as opposed to 'sport luxury' model. 18" wheels, uprated brakes and suspension but no nav. I'd have it if I didn't have one already. High 20's mpg average and 30 mpg on a run.

That's a great spec/mileage/colour and a sensible price. If I was in the market for a CTS that is the one that I'd buy (I have a soft spot for the sport and am almost tempted, but don't need another car).

VX reg means that it was most likely either a GM head office car or perhaps one of the credit hire cars that we supplied when trying to get out of the remaining CTS stock.

Godzilla's write up on a Sport that I lent him -

As nice as the sport is, Most people just think it's a CTS with no Sat-NAV!.
I like the Sports Lux because it has all the options.

If Pendragon had actually done any research prior to becoming the importer and distributor of Cadillacs in the UK they might have discovered that the ideal specification of CTS would have been a 3.6 Sport Lux with the Sport Chassis and wheels, forgoing the tyre pressure monitor that made nav on a Sport unavailable!

I think your right James! most people think the sport model is the basic trim because of the Nav missing. I think the 18" wheels never looked that great. I really like the 20" wheels really set the car off nice. Not many come up with that option. I still have mine on the 20's but may have to change when it needs new tyres! frown
