I have a dream. It is only a dream at the moment because I don't have either the time or the money but in a couple of years I should. I really want a Chevy Nomad project car, anyone got any experience of these?

Looking on the net I can't find any in the UK, the ones in the US vary from about $4000 for one requiring complete restoration to $100K for fully restored. I assume that means it costs a lot to restore them? Is that due to lack of parts or just down to body work, spraying, re-chroming etc?

I would ideally like a complete beater to restore. Are the parts a nightmare to get hold of? Am I going to be forever importing from the US? As I say only a dream at the minute but would like to set my expectations, if it is going to cost a fortune I will have to think of something else.

Cheers

Very, very sought after in the States and also rare, as, when new, they cost more than a Bel Air soft top!

Parts are no problem, at least the ones that are common to the other Tri-Chevys (55-57) with companies like http://www.danchuk.com/

Also, huge aftermarket for upgrading eg http://www.artmorrison.com/tri5.php and endless engine options.

Saw a v nice 55 on Ebay here last year for about £40k, so whilst I'd love one, way too much for me.

Good choice and good luck thumbup

They've had that for months, if not years. IIRC, it started at £25,000 and has gone up over time. It was definitely <£30,000 last year. Where's the logic that drives a vendor to increase the price if it doesn't sell?
