Have pondered this for longer than I care to remember; Fifth Gear (Discovery Turbo re-run) is now showing a test of the Camaro and even the presenters cannot agree. I used to say "ah" but should I be an "air" head?

Over to the PH cognoscenti!

I tend to say Cam-Ah-ro.

fk that. If they wanted it pronounced "camAIRo" they should've spelt it accordingly.

CAM - AHHHH - ROW

(definately not this often used Camero, as some misinformed people spell it)

^^^^^^^^

My PH stickers came through as Camero, even though the user name populates the "name" field....

Camaro.
OK children,
everybody in the US pronounces it---
Caa-mero.
or
Cam-aero, just be sure to blend it all together.
And don't butcher it and stick a cockney "Y" in there like you brits always seem to do--- Caa-my-roh.
Eeech!
wink

coming from an american, we pronounce it cam-air-oh. Its an American car, so many people assume it should be pronounced how we pronounce it, but i dont really care (and i used to own one) how its pronounced. If you come to America and pronounce it weird like you wrote it, nobodys gonna know what your talking about.

never heard that variation...sounds like a deep south "squeal like a pig" variant.

Tried to find a studio version of this on Youtube, but I don't think one exists.

When in doubt, check an advert, presumably GM get it right themselves.

Seems to depend on where people are from...

In the southern states it always seems to be Cm-Air-Oh but the further north you get some AHHH seems to drift in. Seems its exactly the opposite here and as I'm not a southern wus mine is definitely a Cm-Air-Oh although I do know a few West Yorkshire CamAHHRo's

So on that basis, and that mine was built in either Canada or Northern Europe (ie Belgium), mine's definitely a Cam ah ro. smile

When did they start building them in Belgium, I thought they were all built in Canada.
