WANTED: 94-02/4th Generation Pontiac Trans Am
Discussion
Randy, you really should of picked one up while you were in the States before coming here, or buy a ticket back to personally pick one up. Then get it shipped here. The selection is slim pickings in the UK for decent fbodys.
Below is link to 1998 TA WS6. I know you said LT1 but I don't know how you could pass up the LS1. Its night and day. for having only 33k miles that isn't too bad.

"Your input is appreciated, but I think everyone here is mistaken in thinking this is the only place I'm looking."
Surely everyone can't lack the reading comprehension necessary to understand me? Is everyone smarter than me? Have I not made it clear that my search for the proper car is not limited to pistonheads or the UK?
Let me help you all out, then. I have ads up here, at Lakenheath, at Ramstein AB in Germany, and back in my home state.
What do you guys think is so easy about conducting business legitimately in another country? Right now I have my dad looking at cars for me, and he has his own st to do. Flying back for $1000 isn't feasible, nor do I want to spend the leave days, nor do I want to sit on a plane for 8 hours. The nearest port to my house is even further away then John O' Groats is to me now, and who the hell is supposed to drive the car there? I didn't buy one before I came because I am a young airman and I already had one before I came. I sold it to get financially sound and planned to buy another one at that point. Now is that point.
I have seen plenty of good examples for decent prices here in the UK, but the timing wasn't right for me. Now it is, so I will patiently look here. If my dad and I coordinate and find the right car in the states, so be it.
Does everyone fully understand what is going on here? Can you now be more constructive in helping me actually find it like a true automotive community should?
Enjoy your search - I will cease commenting, as you clearly have all the answers.Surely everyone can't lack the reading comprehension necessary to understand me? Is everyone smarter than me? Have I not made it clear that my search for the proper car is not limited to pistonheads or the UK?

Hi Randall.
Great way to make a first impression You do realise that these people are just trying to help, don't you?
Anyway, with that out of the way and assuming that you are not deliberately being a giant douche, I will try to help you as well.
As pointed out by other posters, your choice will be limited by choosing a car in the UK.
There are far less choices than you will be used to and they will cost more than back home as we have to ship, pay duties then sales tax on imports.
Generally, what you would pay in Dollars in the US will cost you GBP in the UK so figure on paying approx. 1.5 times more than what you would pay back home.
If you want to look for a car here, I will list a few options.
1. Look here on Pistonheads in the classified section.
2. Go to a Newsagent and pick up 2 magazines. One is Classic American and the other is American Car.
Both of these are British magazines dedicated to US cars. They have a large classified section
and lots of dealer adverts.
3. There are other UK forums dedicated to US vehicles. www.aaci.co.ukwww.amvo.org
www.rebel-v8.com Do a search on Google UK, there's others out there.
who all have a classified section.
4. It seems like you are already looking on the bases and this is a good way to find a car,
especially from people who are finishing their tour and want to sell up before going home.
I don't know if it has to be a Pontiac or GM that you specifically want but if you are interested, I am about to put up my SN95 Mustang for sale. 1997 GT, black with black leather and its a 5 speed
manual.
Good luck in your search though.

It wasn't going anywhere useful. I'll stick to yanks.
More like you realised you made a tit of yourself.I did see your snipe towards HD's Mustang - pretty cheap shot considering he's trying to help you out.
I suggest you actually read "SPCH 101 The Art of Public Speaking" rather than trying to sell it for $70

There really are no excuses for bad manners.

Nice, someone reads the yard sales. Must be hard. I got top marks in that class, though, so I'm well read on that book. I really, REEEEALLY enjoy all the effort you went through to insult me. This is an example of how we ended up here in the first place.
There was no snipe at his Mustang. You behavior is so anti-me that you think it is. Truth is, I AM a big Mustang fan. I helped my best friend swap cams and heads onto his... 1997 MUSTANG! However, I come from a long line of GM employees, to include my father who is one now. I will continue to support the brand until I die. He had a 1979 Trans Am when I was 2, and that's when I realized I love cars.
I came in totally respectful. I had my manners. Please and thank yous. Instead, my intelligence was insulted, and I got pissed. I don't understand why you think my manners are bad or like I need something form you. Taking shots at anything to do with the military is stupid and trite. We are all very much individuals in the military... at least, the group I'm with is. After all, we're not morons like the Army, and we're not brainwashed killing machines like the Marines. What I meant by that yanks comment was that when I posted the same thing on a US forum, I was greeted with many listings from users local areas, and that is all. No disrespect to the UK citizens, but only 2 people were even close to helpful.
I actually thought I could delete the thread and start over, but I couldn't delete it and start a new one. I deleted what I said because looking back, it was trivial and stupid. However, only one person here did anything to help.
I think everyone deserves an apology for my behavior. I'm truly sorry. However, I honestly felt insulted and struck back as a result.
Can we be friends yet?
