Has anyone got one?

I have been asked to see if i can search for one. A fairly local guy to me as just snapped the camshaft on his 350 small block chevy vette and is fairly certain that the whole lump is scrap so needs another one.

Anyone got anything lying about?

thankyou

Yep, a snapped cam can seriously destroy most of the engine.
What year Vette is it, what engine model Lxx ?
I have 3 available , all different years, I carb'ed ,1 injected, 1 new shortblock + various heads to fit.
I could also fit it if needed.
Cheers
Martin

Sorry for the delay the owners not got in touch so i assume he found one.

A friend asked if i knew any one as my monaro is technically a gen 3 small block chevy.

The vette is carbed so i believe a gen 1 around 60's era

I think hes in the midlands

350 wasn't in the vette till 1969. I think the first year for the 350 was 1967 (im not sure about that). so a 350 vette motor is likely 70s or 80s, although, it could be a 90s vette motor known as the LT1, LT4, or LT5 (LT5 is unlikely/ These are gen 2 smallblocks) which are very similar to the gen 1 smallblock (except the LT5 wich was designed by Lotus). Many people refered to the 5.7L LS1s and LS2s as "350s" also, despite the fact they were 346ci and not 350. so "350 vette motor is very vague.

If it's a carb'd Vette it's unlikely to be any newer than 1980, as I think were all injected after that... Could be retrofit engine a 60's or 80's car though.. Need more info really..

I have one. It was in my 2nd Gen Camaro. I removed it to installed a Dart 406 SBC. It's a GM 355 Gen 1 SBC. I have sold the AFR 195 heads, Air Gap rpm intake, blalcncer and starter motor.

It has an aluminium water pump, TRW forged pistons and a Comp Cams blower cam. Otherwise it's stock and in good working order....

ie It came out of the car working and has been sitting in my garage for around 8 months......PM me if your interested.

I haven't had a chance to see if it is a four or two bolt version.

When it was in the car.

Sorry for the vague description as its around 350 ci could be 346 or 347. I was asked by my friend who knows the owner.

I have forwarded all the info on but ive heard nothing so hopefully another engine has been sourced.

I assume its gen 1 small block and not gen2 lt1.

My monaros got a gen 3 ls1 and i love it.

As a side note has anyone actually heard of a camshaft snapping in small block chevys? As ive never heard of a cam snapping on a NA engine

Gen 1 would make it 350 or 355 after a rebore. 346 is an LT1 size I believe. I hope he has been sorted regarding a new block or engine. Cam shaft could possibly snap due to valve float or valve train failure and a piston hitting a valve shoving the lifter down at the wrong time.....
