Looks like American car Imports have called it a day, Seems the website is still online but the doors have now closed for good.

It would seem harder it the past few years for the Grey importers to stay open, In the last decade you could now buy a -Cadillac,Corvette,Hummer,Dodge,Chrysler,Jeep from a UK dealer network.

I think with internet buying a car from the States is a lot more easy to do. And If somebody like GM have had trouble selling cars, The knock on effect is worldwide!

It had been on the cards for a while. They actually shut the doors a couple of weeks ago.

I think they got to the point where they decided it was a lot of work for an ever decreasing margin and decided to semi retire and do other things.

Importation is no easier now than it was five years ago. Mistakes are expensive and given US manufacturers have put massive pressure on dealers not to export, buying a car in the US is not easy. It is a sign of the economy we are in. Thank heavens for Italian cars heh?!

That's just the half of it.

2 MK1's. One he races, one he hires out. 2 MK3's. One he races, the other is a parts car. A road going MK 1 that will probably end up as a race car and exciting developments to come. wink

Shame. Although IMHO their aftersales service was woefully lacking and their competitors ar a lot better at it.
