Out of interest approx how much money would you be looking spending to get a f150 lightning up from 380 bhp to about 500 bhp? and what sort of mods?

Its curiosity more than anything ive been toying with getting one of these for a while now.

Hi matey
Easyest way and cheap hp is a pully upgrade.
I have gone from 8lbs to 16lbs of boost for around a grand.
Which reminds me,i must get it on the rollers, should be
around 500hp and qouted as giving 560lbs of torque.
There`s loads of stuff out there for them.
biggrin Cheers

Thanks for that, is the £1000 you mention a fitted price? does the extra power cause any issues with the auto box or other areas because thats a lot of torque hehe

biggrin 1k gets you the parts, you have to fit them .Aprox (£500) if you get someone else to do the work.
Thats a total guess though.
As for any parts rear of the motor going kaboom,i`ll let you know biggrin
Lightnings are quick stock, and real good fun when tweeked.

Sorry mate. I seriously doubt you'll have anything like those figures with just a pulley change.

Plenty of places say they can give you loads of bhp so be careful..

Ive used JDM for tuning my Saleen Mustang and now my '07 F150 Harley Supercharged truck...

Here is their site... http://www.teamjdm.com/

Good luck and keep an eye on that budget.. wink

Hi,i got the E kit ,go down to bottom of page ,mines an 03
I was talking flywheel numbers, some of those there are rwhp numbers.
All very subjective, but a lot of extra power for not a lot of $$$. ;D
Loads of stuff on this site.

First off, RPM probably have one of the worst reputations in the L/HD community. Be very careful doing business with them. Do a Google search before you commit any money.

Secondly, tuning.

There's lots of big numbers bandied about by people who provide parts and tuning. I'm not saying that they are dishonest but it is in their interest to show big number increases.
There's many ways to make dyno figures show suitibly large gains with the application of correction factors or dynoing under different conditions.
With supercharging, 1lb of boost extra will give you 10hp under the best conditions so going from 8 to 16lb boost would give you a best of 80hp. That's with the fuel map corrected for the extra air going in.
The standard Lightning is 380hp so that only gives you 460.
Now, talking of conditions, as you spin the blower harder, the adiabatic efficiency decreases and the Eaton isn't known as the Heaton for nothing.
As the air temp from the blower increases, the air thins out so unless you've addressed the intercooler or ported the blower, you won't see anything like the 80hp you were expecting.

A 6lb (9inch) diameter lower pulley, plugs, air intake and good tuning should put you somewhere near 380 t0 400 rwhp which will net you a high 12 or low 13 second pass in the quarter mile assuming you can get the power down and can drive at the drag strip.

If you really want to find out, go to Santa Pod or Shakey, make a few passes and find out how you do.

Adam mate thanks for your input, you have a lot more knowledge on lightnings than me.
And as sure as $hit,i do not want to steer people in the wrong direction or to the wrong people.
Let me just say both trucks i have had, with a pulley kit,on the street have been killer.
For me thats where im at ,at the mo.1/4 mile is an art in it`s self.biggrin
