Going to look at one tomorrow. It's the 4.6 V8 - which is the same engine as the Mustang ? I've had a couple of Mustangs, and just now am yearning for another V8 in my life. I think the Cougar (based on the Thunderbird) will be a slightly more relaxed ride, but that's fine. I'm after a (relativley) cool summer cruiser.
Anyone here have any tips on what especially I should be looking at in the way of problems. A brief internet search doesn't really throw up anything in particular.

used to own one (albeit the 3.8 v6)

it was an utter rustbucket, so my first suggestion would be to check for rust.

When I went over big bumps the door would sometimes pop open, which should tell you about the stiffness of the body, though the rust did not help.

It handled terribly and had a tendancy to understeer through corners and wallowed as well.

Road and steering feel was non-existant, but if you like boat like manners than you problaby wont mind it.

Horrible car in my experiance.
