I'm building a special and am using the chevy 350 small block v8. One small area I'm stuck on is connecting the heater. Which port on the engine is the outlet to the heater, the one on the pump or the one on the inlet manifold?

On the majority of motors the one on the pump is the return line and the one on the inlet is the flow.
If in doubt google it
