GM UK to Officially Import.........
Discussion
...........the Camaro, read this yesterday in Autocar, and apparently they will have factory warranty - how will this compare to buying from one of the specialist importers like the chaps in Manchester who seem to be a regular supplier of these and other americana? I've recently had a fleet clear out and created a space in the garage so have been thinking more and more of buying something from across the pond (currently obsessed with a 1972 Oldsmobile 442 but they're a bit hard to come by!) and I really like the looks of the Camaro; with a 3 year factory warranty as long as the price is comparable with current imported prices, could be seriously tempting...any thoughts?
Heard it so many times and still don't believe it. It will look stupid in a Daewoo range and didn't they import the VXR8 bexcause the Monaro didn't sell that well?
Is anyone honestly going to pay £950 first year VEL and umpteen hundred thereafter when they can buy an import and tax it for £205 a year?
Still, if Autocar said it, it must be true, it's not like GM haven't got really rich selling off VXR8s at £23k.
...or indeed done a really fantastic job importing and servicing Corvettes and Cadillacs. Honestly, they couldn't organise a Vauxhall Vectra Owner's Reunion.

I read that too. Any imported car still comes with a warranty anyway. OK, not manufacturers, but a warranty all the same.
Don't see the appeal of it being "official". And forget LHD.....'aint gonna happen.
That being said, the Camaro is stunning and I recently had a chance to view one up close (in Bumblebee colours). Wouldn't swap it for the 'stang, but I'd have one in the garage alongside it

I hear it's coming here this year now in LHD through Chevy. Nothing official though, so who knows what'll happen. I've been hearing this for years - even Chevy took my details for a test drive, but that was when the concept was here on display.
Gooodwoooooood!!!!! I'm sure a few Camaros will be there though - hehe.

Whatever the announcement, I just don't see it selling anyway and this will probably be another GM "lead balloon".
Fully agree.I went to my local dealer after seeing the VXR8 on TG - bloody useless they were. I wouldn't buy a cup of tea from them, let alone an expensive performance car.
