Hi all,

I recently changed my wheels to 17x8 Rocket Racing wheels with Khumo 245/45/17 tyres. The car originally came with 15'' wheels with 265/50/15 front and 295/50/15 rear.

I've noticed that the car's steering has become quite 'grabby' and it tends to be influenced by the road surface quite a bit, certainly more than before. I've noticed it tramlines more than before and feels a bit skittish over bad surfaces. A friend suggested dropping the tyre pressures. I run 30psi fronts 34psi rear. He has 17'' American Racing wheels on his '66 Mustang GT but runs 26/28 and reckons that’ll help.

I know the sensible answer is to suck it and see, but I wanted to make sure those figures aren’t too low before I go out and knacker a set of new tyres.

How bad were the old tyres? (treads)
You are comparing new tyres with old not just a change of size.
I would definately try reducing the pressure, check the tag on the door post for the recommended.
34 in the rear can't be pleasant in an early 90s Camero.

BTW is that 34 cold?
