Well I'm pleased to announce that YorksYanks will be hosting our own show for the first time!

Rumblefest - A Show of American Automotive Independence - Presented by YorksYanks and supporting Help for Heroes, will take place at the Triton, Brantingham, East Yorks on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th July 2010. American Cars/Trucks/Bikes, Rods and Customs from all across the UK are welcome to come and join us for what promises to be a great new event on the show calendar. Saturday afternoon will feature the 20 mile Rumblefest Cruise which will include stopping off to display the cars in the local village of Cottingham, whilst back at the Triton camping will be available on the show field for those wishing to stay over. The Triton has an excellent reputation for its food and the bar and restaurant will be open throughout the weekend including Sunday breakfast.

Sunday will feature the Show'n'Shine with award winners predominantly picked out by the participants. There'll be trade stands and we've also got some competitions for you to get involved in. YorksYanks is also really pleased to announce that Rumblefest is being supported by The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and will feature a flypast by one of the Coningsby based Spitfires (subject to weather conditions)

Rumblefest will be open to the general public on Sunday July 4th from 10am and as a non-profit making organisation YorksYanks will be charging only a nominal entrance fee to both exhibitors and the general public just to cover event running costs and hopefully form part of a donation to Help for Heroes, YorksYanks chosen charity in 2010.

Look out for more information as it becomes available at the Rumblefest website

I find the price your charging far too high. You say you only want to cover your costs £9 just to bring your car in Sunday come on thats weel steep. Tatton Park same weekend over 2000 American vehicles Stalls fun fare wheel of death bands etc plus normally Classic American Heat held there. How much for all this? Tottaly free if prebooked. Menwith hill just been Fun fair live bands fire works food etc etc plus cars and a look round a USA Air Base again tottaly free. Americana 30 years this year bands from all round the world stalls full American lifestle weekend £15 for Sunday. As for Americana loads of people wont go to that as its too expensive yet its a lifestyle weekend.
So how can yours be so expensive and on its first year?
In these times everyone is watching there pennies. With the price of petrol etc no way should we be paying that to show our cars for others to look at.No cars no show.
Most of the shows i go to are either free or £3 and thats enough i feel. Even then with petrol coffee burgers etc it normally costs £30-£40 to go to a show for the day.

It will be interesting to see the turnout

Excuse me? £18 for two days camping for up to 4 people? Sounds like a bargain to me, I'd go if I wasn't so far away and off to France next week. Also if you hadn't noticed, it is for a good cause.

Thanks for your support James, clearly we have attracted a forum troll here ^^^... maybe its just someone with an axe to grind who has some involvement with a commercial show on the same weekend I don't really know and I really care very little. Signing up to make one post is obviously very suspicious though.

But what I do care about is the facts:

Stars and Stripes - Yes this is an established show and the "free" element makes it look a bargain at first glance. Stars and Stripes free actually means free to two people with no caravan or motorhome. If you actually compare like for like then for four adults staying in a motorhome for the weekend stars and stripes according to C.A.P. website will cost you £60 (£7.50 per day for each of your two extra adults and £30 to stay over in your motorhome) against a cost of £18 for Rumblefest including both Friday and Saturday night camping.

Menwith Hill - we were invited to go but were all too busy preparing for Rumblefest and entry was £5 per car not free at all according to all the show PR and booking information. Of course it is sponsored by a huge organisation like the USAF and of course its not an american car/rod and custom show, it is the base's 4th July celebration with a car show (all sorts of stuff) on the side and makes use of the economies of scale and wider demographic base of running such an event.

Americana - Chris Jackson obviously thinks Rumblefest is a good deal as he'll be coming and supporting us and Help for Heroes! As far as we're concerned Americana is a great event and great value for money, but you can't say its cheap and I don't think Chris would expect anyone to. It is run as a commercial venture and if we again compare like for like just on the Sunday alone, two people in a show car at Americana will cost you £30 (£15 per person) whereas Rumblefest will cost you £9 (£9 per carload), add a couple more adults and you're talking £80 for Americana and still the same £9 at Rumblefest. Americana is still great value at £80 for a car full and we will be there, but you're comparing apples with oranges!

YorksYanks is an entirely non-profit american car club. We do not involve ourselves in inter-club politics and we have members who are also members of all the major clubs in the UK and they manage to all get along very nicely without throwing things at eachother! After Rumblefest the club will not be holding over any profits towards another show but will move forward with a nil balance and Rumblefest 2011 will start from the same nil balance. No one within the club has any commercial interest in the event and all profits after the basic costs of running the event will go directly to help for heroes.

The guys in the club have all given vast amounts of time to the event completely off their own back. Personally I have now done a full month away from work, working 9am until 11pm most nights working on Rumblefest for absolutely no personal gain, only the satisfaction that we're going to be helping a great charity.

Oh and I did forget to mention there's a load of freebies for some of those who pre-booked early...

But a nice free T-shirt when you're already paying the vast sum of £18 per carload isn't going to make it seem any better value is it? rolleyes

The Saturday is a cruise from the Triton to Cottingham (display in Cottingham) and then back to the triton. IF you just want to show and shine that is the Sunday and it is £9 per show car.

Forum troll .Is that what someone is who asks why the price is high ie £9 to show my car on Sunday.
Yes it was my first post but we have to start somewhere. Your members or others associated with Yanks are quite happy to bombard me with emails promoting yourselves or your show so i decided to reply.
As for saying you don’t care what i say maybe you should whether i am right or wrong. Everyone should be listened too.
I don’t have no commercial interest in any shows. I am just a show goer here and in Europe.
My main thing was the SUNDAY you were charging £9 just to show my car. Im not questioning the weekend price camping tee shirts etc etc. These had not been an issue for me.
I was in Hull on the Sunday and thought and would have liked to show my car. But again at £9 for driver and child i feel as others have told me its too expensive. If there are 5 or 6 people maybe it seems ok but i travel mainly on my own or with daughter so saying what you say means very little to me or alot of other car enthusiasts.
On another note as someone who went to RAF Menwith Hill i can tell you there was no charge. If you had paid £5 this was refunded at checkin.

I'll take your "full" and raise you a "rammed!"

Haven't got exact figures from the show yet (should have that for everyone in the next couple of days) but we can say that Help for Heroes will be receiving a bigger donation that we ever imagined was possible, thanks to everyone who supported YorksYanks and our charity in our first ever Rumblefest.

Congratulations to all our prize winners

Best Classic American - Neal Walker, "Blueshark" '69 Corvette
Best Modern American - Mick Haynes, '07 Cervini C500 Mustang
Best Rod or Custom - Michelle Pawson, '45 Chevy Truck
Best Bike - Jeff Morgan, American Ironhorse
Best in Show - Steve Fletcher, '46 Ford Woody

It was packed out which was really fantastic.

The only minor blot was the wind - which whilst making the day far more tolerable for us meant that the Spitfire was grounded - well hopefully next year it won't be quite as windy.
