Hi folks over the last 5 months i have been thinking of selling the dodge ram & finding a replacment vehicle i want something in ya face with good towing power The rams been my pride & joy for the last 5 years
Now do i give up my harley davidson night rod & ram ?
any body know how bad/good these hummer h2 are ? what ever i get must have a 3500 towing capacity
I dont want to go the range rover route as i recover too many,
As im a car nut i quite like the hummer look & size
Yep i know i will need to fit another tacho&lpg kit as the ram has
so pistonheaders spill the beans are they any good ? who owns one and whats the problems ?

Here goes..... I own both.....

The Ram is a cheaper vehicle to own maintainance wise. As simply there is less to go wrong. There are a lot more electronics on the Hummer. Even air suspension on the rear if its a LUX model.Saying that they are pretty reliable compared to a Range Rover. The biggest weakness on the H2 seems to be the wheel bearings. And i suspect that mine will need doing at some point,as i can detect movement in the wheels when jacked up that shouldnt be there. The bearings come as a complete unit with the hubs and are a bit pricey. Around £190 a side. They also feel a heavy vehicle. And that shows in fuel consumption. Vey rarely get in to double figures around town. I'm not a fan of lpg so i wont be going down that route.

The best part is the rarity factor on the roads. And despite the negative factor these have produced.(Mostly throught the media) I have found entirely the opposite. Lots of people ask about it. And nearly everyone has given the thumbsup.

Seeing as it will be a tough decision for you. Then the best bet is to go along and have a look at a few and try them out. The best bit is the view and feel from the drivers seat.

I can't really comment first hand on this.

I do like the look of the H2, but I think given the choice I'd probably look at another truck of some kind.

I'm really a huge fan of the big diesels. The 5.9 (6.7) Cummins and the wonderful sounding 6.6 Duramax V8 in the Silverado.

I'd love to have a nice AWD double cab diesel truck, with a few mods pushing it up to 500-550hp biggrin

I'm also a huge fan of the new Ford F150 SVT Raptor, although I don't know if it meets your towing requirement. And the extra wide arches on it make it a fair bit wider than a regular F150 too.

Hi it's a long shot but if you are on here still. Did you ever get a hummer? How much and how hard is the tacho to source and fit. Does it need recalibrating? Cheers. Richard

I can't comment on the Hummer all I can say is the Ram is a great vehicle and you are nuts to even think about getting rid of the Night Rod Special nono

(I may be slightly biased though)
