My thought process. About a year ago I sold my 70.5 Z28 running a big block 427 with a 3" flowmaster exhaust system. http://www.collectormotors.com/1970z28.htm (stay well clear of these muppets). So I keep thinking about buying another yank as I miss that big V8 rumble. I've been running Lightning's for the past eight years but have been reluctant to mess around with the exhaust as occasionally I leave home at unsociable hours and I don't want to p*ss the neighbours off (any more than I have done already). So I got thinking. Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo etc. have exhaust systems with some sort of operational valve with in them. So my question is are any of you guys aware of an exhaust system I can buy for the truck which will give it that low bass big V8 rumble when I want and that I can switch to a more silent mode as and when I want to. Sound clips would be much appreciated and many thanks in advance, cheers Graeme

I have a custom made twin 3" stainless system on my HD F150, made by Fin at Dynoflow.co.uk.
It's, er, "quite fruity" when you get on it but not too bad if I don't leave the driveway like the startline at the Pod. biggrin

They also do remote, electric cut outs if you want to leave it dead stock but also make some noise where applicable.

Hi there

A possible new product?! - Switchable sound exhausts?!

My Bro has a F150 03 Anniversary edition F150 and simply love the sound of the stock exhaust! however i do understand where you're coming from in terms of an aftermarket system to help enhance the sound.

It may be worthwhile speaking to Hayward & Scott who make custom exhausts. I'm a BMW enthusiast and as such, some of the E39 M5 owners love to put on selected after market exhausts to let out more V8 sound goodness. A well known 'quiet(er) at idle and 'nicely gets louder' exhaust is the one H&S do for this car. I've personally heard an enthusiasts/PHer "Seesure"'s E39 M5 with this exhaust fitted and can vouch for it's idle sound and when it's given some 'beans' in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear!!

We are selling the F150, but thoughts did cross my mind of potentially upgrading the exhaust from these guys!

Hope this helps - Cheers, Dennis! West London & Slough UK!

Thanks guys for your replies. Steve I reckon I will be in touch. The truck is in for a service today. The chap who looks after it is very knowledgeable on all things and he is into his american cars. I'll have a chat with him. He may already be aware of these valves, they seem ideal. Cheers Graeme. p.s. I'll let you know what transpires
