Firstly, if anyone's thinking of changing their MyGig (with Nav) for an aftermarket head unit (high Speed CAN Bus C) - let me know!

Secondly, I'd be interested to hear what PHers think of them? I'm torn between trying to get hold of one (which is a pain) or installing something aftermarket such as a Pioneer Avic.

Any thoughts appreciated smile

I love the MyGig- its functionality is brilliant, the bluetooth is easy to hook up and more stable than aftermarket systems and the hard drive recorder is terrific. Only downside is the sat nav postcode recognition is only to 4 characters and then you need to put in the road name from a list of several relating to the 4 digits of the postcode (sorry that sounds really complex but it really isnt!).

Thanks Charles. The 4 digit postcode would irritate me - but I do like the looks of the MyGiG vs. an aftermarket system.

I know you can get RER's converted to REW's for about €400 plus shipping from customtronix. Is there a UK supplier that can do it?

Buying a MyGiG from the dealer comes in at a grand plus vat which, whilst better than I thought, is still flippin' steep! If you have a spare RER or REW kicking about let me know!

Hope business is good thumbup

I really rate the MyGig although make sure it has the SatNav as not all do. The touchscreen version is also the best. Agree with the postcode comments.

The South African one is non-nav. By the time I've paid for a US eBay RER and converted it (and paid import duty) I might as well buy here smile

I may have one, Im pretty sure I have a 20gb RER that has been reprogrammed- you may have to take it to Chrysler to be matched to the car otherwise it will cause all sorts of faults.

I have the single disk with Uconnect and the hands free is useless. I have used it on several other cars that have it and it works great. No idea what is wrong with mine but I end up not using it. My mother in law has an older nav system that is very clear. Any ideas what would cause mine to be crap? (its not the phone as I used it on others and it is clear.

IME, the MyGig with SatNav has much better voice recognition than the MyGig without. Is yours with SatNav?

Hi Stig

Yes I am thinking about changing. My situation is that I purchased a GC Overland in Dec 09, but which has an REW 08 version MyGig unit with a 20GB hard drive. Unfortunately, I cannot get it to work with either my iPhone or my iPod. As part of the settlement with the dealer, I was given a lump sum to recompense for this.

Given i cannot upgrade my existing MyGig unit, I am considering changing it for a Pioneer AVIC F10BT. I am just trying to establish whether it will be possible to connect to the Boston Amp (I think there is a cable harness available), but also to the roof mounted DVD screen in the back, the steering wheel controls and the rear view camera.

One dealer said it wouldn't be a problem, another has said its not so easy, so I am a little hesitant.

Any advice from anyone much appreciated

A

Hi A - I believe the GC uses a low speed Can-Bus, so I wouldn't be able to install it in my Nitro anyway frown
