Hello,

My family has a 2005 Lincoln LS V8 over in Dubai which is turning out very difficult to sell (most Emiratis & expats prefer SUV's). I'm based in the UK for the most part of the year so was thinking of shipping it over and attempt to sell it here. Does anyone know if the LS was ever sold in the UK? If not, are there any imports about? And finally, would this car be of interest to anyone in the UK (being LHD/big V8/etc)?

Thanking you in advance for your feedback.

PS - I've tried to locate an online Lincoln owners club but none seem to exist in the UK - is this correct?

The LS was never sold here, But Ford back in 98-99 did bring over 10 or so RHD versions in V6 and V8 in UK spec. They were never officially sold ended up being dumped in Dagenham for ages and then registered and sold off in Auctions. They were trying to sell them because Cadillac and just launched the STS in the UK and Lincoln even set up a Sales marketing hot line but never went anywhere..

A few have been for sale on Auto trader but most buyers have no idea what they are even with RHD and UK spec! The prices around 3500-5000 not sure what they really get sold for.

It's based on the Jag S Type, well you can pick a Jag up fully loaded for 1500-5000 for that age. Look at a Cadillac CTS the same sought of car in RHD from 2005 £6000-7000K

The Caddy is a UK spec car and with some sought of dealer back up to give you an idea. Again the Ford Thunderbird which is based on the Lincoln can be sold between £8-10K

Thank you for your informative response. I suspected that the face-lifted LS was never sold in the UK ... It's a great car, I've personally enjoyed driving it on many occassions! Based on your feedback and the inconclusive results of my research I will not attempt to sell the car over here. Better to just keep trying our luck in Dubai. Shame, the Brits don't know what they're missing! smile

By the way, I just saw in your profile that you've got a C6 Vette - my brother has a MY2008 C6 Z06 over in Abu Dhabi. Absolutely love that car! I used to have a C2 back in the days when I lived in Washington DC. Back then the cars were a bit "rudimentary" but very enjoyable nonetheless!

Thanks again!

Pretty sure the LS was based on the Jag S type. Was the X type even around when the LS was introduced?.

Makes no difference to the OP of course, but might come in handy in an ad if you align it with the S type rather than the X.

Of even less use to the OP is the fact that I quite like them, but am not in the market for one.

Good luck with the sale. Maybe try an ad in a German paper (LHD and all that)in the hopes that a US serviceman stationed there really fancies one.

@ Red Twin: you are indeed correct - it is based on the S-type. Shame you're not in the market for one as it is an outstanding car, both mechanically and cosmetically. The car is actually a "Gulf spec" vehicle which makes it a little more difficult to sell outside of the GCC region. Had a similar problem with a gulf spec Range Rover Sport SC some time ago but that eventually sold to someone in China (!) Dealers and service centers seem not to like cars that were destined for foreign shores ... Thanks for the advise about Germany and the US armed services ... will give that a go.

In any case, we'll continue with our sales efforts - we're not in any particular hurry. As for cheap fuel - yes, that makes the cost of owning a so called "gas guzzler" a heck of a lot cheaper! I could drive for a month in Dubai on the GBP equivalent that I spend on one fuel fill up over here! Just crazy!
